I dunno who to choose, Stormcloacks or imperials? I'm a "Heavy Warrior" Orc. Pros and cons of each would be nice.

I think I'm gonna join the Imperials, the Stormcloaks do seem like assholes.

I've chosen the Imperials for various reasons:

  • Unlike the stormcloaks, who just want Nord's to live in Skyrim, the Imperials do not differentiate between races. They just want Skyrim to be peaceful again.
  • Ulfric's ambitions and goals are more than shady for me, especially when taking a certain incident (massacre of his own race) into account...
  • It has been stated that Ulfric has been released by the Thalmor so he can stir up a civil war.
  • If the Imperials are defeated, Skyrim will be weak and vulnerable to attacks from "outer sources".
  • While it is true that the Imperials have banished the worship of Talos due to the "White-Gold Concordat", once the Empire is strong again, they can rebel against said concordat.

I feel like stormcloaks are racist assholes and I always play khajiit or argonian so I just decide to pick imperials. Don't really care though. Doesn't do much either way.

lol, the kajjit racism thing is a badly broken message to the point of being comical. "those racist nords won't let us into their cities, they think us all skooma dealers and theives...by the way would you like to buy some crack? i came to skyrim specifically to sell it. no? pickpocket training then? no? very well, may warm sands be underfoot"
i may have missed them but I can't think offhand of any other kajjit in the game who wasn't a criminal except Kajarro

(and that includes filler npcs with only generic ambient dialogue.(jsut a taste. no. but my bones ache for the sugar. no, youve consumed half our supply already we need this caravan to make a profit. well what if we start running guns for both sides? no. the winner won't be grateful they'll hang us for helping their foe, we'll stay out of this. i hadn't thought of this, thats why you're the leader we'll stick to pushing opium the drow are always buying.")

the imperials are selling jews to hitler hoping(and failing) to buy some time, stormcloaks are just zionists. no more racist than your average israeli, certainly thats better than nazi poland right? (it even works right down to haldvar, a nice dude once you get him alone, when nobody is looking he even helps you escape. but with his unit he was perfectly ok with watching what he knows is an innocent man executed because he was just following orders)

In general, neither of them are good guys or bad guys. Imperial Legion fights for unity of the whole Tamriel, while Stromcloaks want Skyrim to be independent. Thalmor are the only ones who really benefit from all of that.
What I like to do is to actually role-play (after all this is a role-playing game). Before creating a character I would make a backstory, together with his/her beliefs and personality, like something you would do in board game RPGs like D&D. Together with mods, it gives you a very wide variety of possibilities.
For example, if you want to stick to the lore, Orcs usually join the Imperial Legion because they often get a lot of respect for their smithing and fighting skills. However, what if your character has a history with them? Besides the fact that they did try to execute you, maybe your character attacked them first out of hatred and got himself captured? It can be whatever you want it to be, that's the beauty of the TES games. :)
