And maybe several translations, huh?
So getting it compared as a "polished sequel" to Diablo 2 when it's only translated in 1 language with no cinematic.
I liked Torchlight 1, but well... after trying Torchlight 2, I just had the feeling it was an expansion of Torchlight 1.
So yeah, it's cool and fun but... as was Torchlight 1. After Torchlight 1 success, I was really expecting something greater, and at least, international.

about translations, i'd say that in D2 they are pretty useless if you're interested in trading gear.
at least the translation to my mother tongue is useless or even a barrier to that. and btw is not available on mac.

Both Torchlight and Torchlight II also have demos on Steam, so check them yourself ;)
I'll wait until they finish their translation into German, but people are very happy with this game for all i read.

Like others have said, either try out the demo or get Torchlight 1 from the current Humble Bundle.
T2 makes a lot of small improvements over the original that add up significantly to a better experience.

Absolutely! It's a great game which I enjoyed a lot so far. For example, I just played a Main-Story Dungeon in which I had to stay inside a moving light circle (outside of it you'd get lots of damage) and big ass mobs were spawning and attacking you and the Dungeon itself had lots of traps on the way. A great idea full of small details which make you love it!

Oh well, I'll go back and see if it still works. Otherwise we go there again after the world got reset again D:

It is located in this desert with lots of broken ships on the ground. It's the first of those two Dungeons the Djinn opens you a portal for and it's part of the Mainquest. We were about level 32 to 38ish in this area. I might get you the name later on.
It doesn't count as a secret room though. So far I've just encountered 3 secret rooms that were declared as such.

If you like Diablo 3, you'll love Torchlight II. The gameplay mechanics are almost identical to Diablo 3, Torchlight II differs from it pretty much only by the story and the graphical style, which is more cartoony than in Diablo. The biggest difference between these games I've seen is that there are SUPER-CUTE PETS in Torchlight II, and they're a pretty neat little feature.
I haven't in fact played Torchlight II myself, but I've watched my friend play it for hours, and I enjoy much even only watching it. I'll definitely buy it for myself if I'm able get the money for it :D

Noooo... that isn't just a little feature. It's actually quite complex, well-designed, important aspect of the game - it solves the problem of teleporting back and forth between dungeons and town, since they can both sell items and buy you most common equipment (potions, common scrolls like Identify)... it seems like a little, but it impacts the game in a very significant way.
And I can't really agree with the part "If you like Diablo 3", either... not that it's wrong or something, but - I know plenty of people who hated their time with Diablo 3, feeling like it was complete waste of time, but now love Torchlight II.
Also.. since I'm writing, I don't agree with "Buy first one and if you like it - buy 2nd one." - first game has plenty of mini-problems, that could have spoilt the experience for anyone... it had little to no replayablity and fighting, while satisfying didn't have much depth or things that could shake it up a little. It also has problems with some seriously useless skills... Torchlight II however solves all of these problems. So if anything - check out the demo of Torchlight II.
Personally - I say, yes - it's worth every cent.... and I'm not even a big fan of hack 'n' slashes, but it's so good, even I find it enjoyable to play. Plus it has music created by Matt Uelmen - if you've ever played Diablo... this should sound very familiar to you.

Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2 go about the gameplay mechanics in a different manner. Torchlight 2 uses the traditional ARPG system wherein you allot points to skills and stats. Diablo 3 had runes and automatically spread out stats for you. It's really quite different.

Thanks a lot to all of you guys for correcting my statements. I should have known better than to try to write a recommendation about a game based on the first impression I've gotten from it :P
I do think Torchlight II looks very interesting, so interesting that I myself would like to have it. I just haven't yet gotten familiar with all of it's features to completely understand the game.

You mean no incredible cinematics, no huge story, no translation, no voice acting in every language for every NPC?
Indeed, Diablo 3 should get ride of all that minor details...
I'm not a big fan of Diablo 3 (I tend to prefer Diablo 2), but the content of the game is rich. You can't just throw it away. It cost a lot of time and money to make a such polished game. So rare are the indie games that are as much polished. The only one that I know is Trine 2.

Yes. If you like Diablo-esque action-adventure games, then Torchlight II is worth every penny.

Well if you're a die hard RPG player you won't regret it... that's for sure
