Apparently, it is now impossible to use extensions that aren't on the google extension market/store/whatever. Say goodbye to SG+. I mean they haven't even hid the option somewhere. The literally removed it. Also, I think most of us who would have enabled the option (if it existed) in the first place, have enough sense to know the risks involved. But, Google is like "Meh, you're too young, kiddo! Let us, elders, take care of you.". If there is some way to bypass this crap, so I can use SG+, please tell me. Thanks.

FF makes you use Greasemonkey anyway; there's no functional difference. Firefox was never webkit-based and couldn't directly run scripts natively the way Chrome and Safari could.

I'm surprised SG+ actually wasn't on the Extension Market. Easy SteamGifts and I think another extension for SG got the okay to be on the market.

search the forums for the link to the script and use tampermonkey

annoying that we have to use a workaround because google wanted to take care of the ID10TS .. have to deal with them at work all day every day(halp my tablet has been hacked, has a virus.. etc.. check it find a cracked LCD, broken charging port).. and now they are ruining my online experience because google won't even let us override their decision

I think you still can. Right-click the extension download and save link. Then drag the extension file in chrome://extensions/

Personally, I think it's a waste of time to use a browser extension for a single site, but I won't begrudge any of you for wanting to customize your user experience.

That having been said, sorry, def can't relate.

  1. Use an intermediary extension to run scripts, which is far more secure and what you should have been doing anyway (and it's what you have to do on Firefox too by the way).

  2. Use a developer build of Chrome.

  3. Stop crying. It's pretty easy to get around this.

I can't believe people are STILL complaining about this.
There are solutions everywhere, and ultimately, if you don't like it, either write your own browser or deal with it.

Like some ppl already said, chromium, canary, or dev build still work, or use developer mode. Don't know of any other workarounds yet.

You always can use my plugin Easy SteamGifts, it is in the market so one-click installation is possible of course. I'm trying to improve it regularly.

Google isn't condescending. They're taking steps to protect Chrome users. I wish ignorant people can stop bitching and crying.

And taking away knives from people protects them from stab wounds - so, if anyone wants to do that, should we cheer and be happy they are taking steps to protect us?
