I believe this was done in connection with the transition to a new version, a major update

Probably, but the price isn't anything special tbh

The "major update" isn't free though, it's paid DLC.

The major update is version 2.0 and it's free.

My bad, I thought they had also bumped the price up on the game with the release of the new DLC, but it's still the same "overpriced" game it was a year ago XD

I don´t think it´s overpriced, it´s really awesome and I will do another playthrough with the dlc soon ^^

I was a heavy critic of CDPR for Cyberpunk and honestly I still am. Misappropriated art grant spanning to millions, a literally fraudulent product since they cancelled the multiplayer half of the game post-launch, etc.

But 2.0 has fundamentally changed the game mechanically and in my eyes the game has finally become actually good. Still some bugs, the loading and streaming of textures is still ridiculous and so on. But as a game, as a mechanical experience, it's pretty great now in my eyes :)

I'm not talking about what one thinks of the game though. I never said the game was shit...

Apologies. I just assumed so since you both said " "major update" ", which I meant to clear up and also that it's the "same overpriced game it was a year ago", which I directly responded to, thinking you meant that the game was just as overpriced as before.

The game + DLC bundle has the 50% off of the main game (if you go with total price of game + DLC). Kinda sucks it went 40% instead of 50% though.

Unfortunately it's not a complete the set bundle, which suuuuuuuuuuuuucks.

they also decrease the discount on the witcher 3 as well (from usually 80% to 70%) for transition to next-gen graphics, i guess they did the same on this one

it is a shame that they require an SSD for the expansion

more of a shame that HDD's are even still made. they are so useless and obsolete now

You ever tried recovering data from a failed SSD?

For speed, yep, SSD (at least NVMe and faster) is much better, but for critical data retention, I'm still gonna rely on a traditional hard drive.

HDD's are nowhere near obsolete.
only for AAA gaming is where they really are insufficient.

I have absolutely no need for super fast speeds on my media storage, what I need is reliability and price efficiency.

Simple thoughts of a simple consumer

You should try video editing or real data work sometime. Let's see how long your precious SSDs survive

For video editing you definitely want to use an SSD. The fastest possible, in fact.

I wonder what you think about big companies going back to using tape storage because of how effective it is for storage vs things like ssd's, nvme's, etc.. Who knows your rtx8090 pc with ray tracing might have a cassette bay so you can load half life 3.

You really should go out more often, HDDs is atm the cheapest storage data unit, it's just as cheap as using BD (cheaper if you include the bd player) but better in most ways.

Check your ignorance.

They have pre order dlc for the new dlc?......I thought they didn't do any scummy practices? lol

I mean it doesn't look good and I doubt it will be the best car in the game, but I guess I see what you mean. Every single company acting with profit as a motive will tell you how much better they are than the other party to gain you for a moment only to do stuff of the sort a moment later. There isn't one that's not going to play you in some way or another, not a single one. It's a capitalism thing.

I got it just because I just finished the main game recently, now I'm going to play the dlc when it comes out since apparently it's massive and a story of it's own. And yeah I collect games too, but I don't care to collect dlc, especially since I think this one looks like garbo, they could've done so much better on a pre-order vehicle.

The preorder dlc is something you can get in the game later.

edit: Also if you think this is scammy it makes me think you just started gaming, companies have been pulling out way worse stuff than what cdpr did with this pre order car incentive.
