Good luck.
Quick question: how much chocolate is that worth, in weight ?

If I tried this, my bank account would empty out quite quickly!

Great to read this, maybe your thread will motivate me to move my fat ass xD I've been running, but I haven't run for almost 2 months now. That's upsetting for me, especially I had a rpogram - 3 runs a week - Monday and Wednesday - 5 km run and Saturday - 10 km run. I haven't lost any weight after my running, but my stamina and overall feeling with myself was better. And visually I was not so big. Right now I caught myself on eating shitty food. despite having lot of time for cooking for myself I am too lazy to do it, so I eat anything and a lot of pizzas (ordered and refrigerated as well).
I wish you good luck - with trainings, eating and best of luck to achieving your goals! :D

Thanks. I hope you can get back into it too. Sounds like a similar situation. I don't think I'm visually much different to other people, but I can see and feel the difference myself and want to get back to a better state.
Meals used to be a bit of a problem, but I'm quite good with preparation now. I usually spend a few hours cooking batches of different meals at the weekend and end up with boxes and boxes of food. I'll freeze some and take some to work for lunch. In the evening I can cook, if I have the energy and time, or just did into the fridge/freezer and eat what's there. It's a bit of a pain at the weekend, but it's nice not to have to think about food for the rest of the week.

Wish you good luck with your cooking :D It is not a stupid idea with cooking only on weekends, maybe I will buy myself some boxes as well :D It would keep me motivated to eat what I already have and not buying some unhealthy food somewhere (especially because it is more expensive than preparing own meals).

I always had lots of ideas for main meals, but not for vegetables. Oven roasting is pretty good and very easy though. You should try it this weekend!

Hope you success with your project!
Thanks for Prey
PS: I lose 50 lbs in my 20s. I used to have a routine regarding chocolate. Each day of sucessful healthy eating, I gave myself the prize of an small bit of chocolate every night, with my coffee. I enjoyed that bit a lot, was a nice reward.

That's a nice system. I'd have to be in the right state of mind to do that. I try not to keep bad food in my apartment because it's so easy for me to just eat it all! I find that having to go out to the shop each time helps me to limit what I eat. I admire your willpower!

Hopefully, the thought of having to pay twice as much for chocolate and telling everyone who reads this post how much I'm pigging out will help to control my urges!
Can confirm that the thought of shaming oneself pretty badly can be helpful. :) Just be extra careful that you don't start feeling the pressure mount on you too much, as that will make your crave for chocolate even harder to control, leading to a downwards spiral. If that fails, you can also try psychotherapy, which tends to help with compulsions and the like.
I'd also advise not trying to cut chocolate off entirely, but instead limit yourself to eating no more than a bit once or twice a day. That's how I got over a pretty bad compulsion for chocolate back in the day.

Thanks for the advice.
I cut out all carbohydrates for a few months a couple of years back. I eat them now, but in much lower quantities than in the past. I feel like a period when I don't eat something at all will help me to limit the amount I eat when I decide to reintroduce it into my diet. So, I guess it's a stage in my plan rather than me expecting not to eat chocolate for the rest of my life!
If my plan fails, I'll try the limited amount you suggest :)

After a month or so away, I've finally got back into the gym again and feeling better for going regularly. Despite this, I've not lost any weight because I'm still eating a lot of bad food. In the past, I've had periods of being very strict with what I ate and saw/felt a lot of good results. I want to try and shift back towards that, but it's difficult to change. So, I had an idea...
I've always found that it's easier for me to change my habits when I am somehow accountable – if I go to the gym with a friend I'm less likely to skip a session because I'd be letting them down. If I'm paying for some kind of lessons, I'm more likely to study because I'd feel like I was wasting money if I didn't, etc.
So, my idea is, I'll set a goal and if I cheat I'll make giveaways. I'm not going to go crazy and try and change everything at once.
Stage 1 - Chocolate
I started with my biggest vice...chocolate! As of 25th June, when I thought of this, I kept track of chocolate I bought. When I bought chocolate I contributed the same amount of money I spent on the chocolate to spend on giveaways.
Stage 2 - Snacks
After two weeks with no chocolate I added more limitations on snacks - no more than 200 calories a day on snacks between meals. Started on 13th August.
Closed Giveaways some basic SGTools rules and anti-bot measures in place

Update 1
A lot of nice comments, I expected more people to suggest I eat more so that they'd get giveaways!
To clarify, I'm not seriously overweight. My aim is to get back to the kind of shape I've had that I know I can reach while still being healthy. As others have mentioned in comments, muscle weighs more than fat, so body weight alone isn't the best way to measure progress. I know the visible changes to my body when I have a lower fat percentage and I'm aiming to get back to that.
Update 2
A month or so on and I've made decent progress. I can see some change and happy with my progress. I use a body fat measurement scale at the gym every now and then to see how I'm going. The numbers aren't super reliable, but it gives me a rough of idea of what's going on. Image below - about 2kg lighter, body fat is down and muscle has increased.
Much later update
Jan 2020 - I haven't been updating this post and I'm not gonna bump it, so I doubt anyone will check this but...another update photo below. I'm about 5 kg lighter than when I first posted. I've actually been lighter than this, but this is a weight I've stagnated at. I'd need to make bigger changes if I was gonna drop any further, I think.
Photo lists estimated figures for (top > bottom) weight, body fat %, fat weight in kg, lean mass in kg, muscle in kg, water in body(?) in kg, bone in kg
