Hi there,

I'm living in China at the moment, and many games have region restrictions. I was wondering if i get the games by trade, or CD key, can i still use them? Not the ones saying this version is only playable in Germany and such, but games like Borderlands who don't have such things.

Cheers

My friend lives in China but couldn't buy the Greek States Culture Pack or Bloodpack DLC for Total War: ROME II. I bought them here in the US and gifted them to him. They activated fine for him. Hope that helps.

You can if you know what to do.

And the locals key playing pirated games because they're assholes. I can't think of any other "legitimate" reason. You can buy tons of games on Steam, the website and client is in Chinese (amongst many other languages), and they accept Alipay, the most common payment method which everyone uses here in China.

If you run in to troubles buying your own games online, you can buy them via foreign VPN such as from your home country, then activate and play them normally on Steam (without vpn). Typically region blocked purchases are mostly just from Japanese publishers who generally refuse to sell to Chinese region customers.

Some you can but now they are adding a new lock and games like Wolfenstein: The New Order that aren't avaiable in some stores like German and Austrian can't be played there even if you get a ROW copy. (http://steamdb.info/sub/41632/)

That one is available here. But still that's kind of stupid escpecially if they do that for money or sth. Since most people who want to play a game who is region restricted will still get it an other way and the company will still get nothing.

I'm tired.... I misread the topic as "Religion Restriction."

"You must be a Presbyterian Christian to play this game."
