I just got the YLOD on my PS3..

Get the better system? A.K.A. The Xbox 360.

Well...the solution without paying money is to throw it out of the window. Guess the better way is to get a cheap gig on ebay.

My ps2 has lasted 10+ years. I'd say it lasted strongerly.

hold the eject button, the game should come out. for the ps3 u should check google to find some fix, but in my opinion u should buy a new ps3 cause it might break again in like a week or 2 depending on how well u fix it. had YLOD on my old ps3 and didnt want to fix it and have it broken and waste more money fixing it over and over just for the old ps3.

Can't offer any solutions, but the problem was you were playing Dead Island on PS3. Your PS3 made the right choice.

If it is the very first modewl there was a sodering problem call sony and they will send you a box to ship it to a facility to fix it. but beware you might not get the exact same one back.

CONSOLE problems, get a real man's console, a PC. :trollface:

My backwards compatible PS3 just did the same thing. I called Sony and they replaced it for $120. Same exact model, great shape. They send you the packing materials with prepaid label. I'm not sure if I'd recommend it if the dead PS3 is a newer model, but if you have an older model with more features, I'd say $120 is a steal. It was for me anyway.

I opened the broken one up and found the thermal paste to be pretty much decimated. If that's the case, there's a good chance the mobo is melty, like mine. Good luck. I'll be reapplying paste every few months on consoles from now on... lesson learned.

I don't know if someone said this already, but you can check and see if there are any local fix it shops in your area. I had a friend with the same problem he paid like 80 bucks and they fixed it for him. Shops that normally do ps3 repairs also repair smartphone, computers, and 360s. So if you cant find a shop that advertises that they fix ps3, but they fix other electronics ask them if they fix ps3s because they might. Oh fyi I also had ylod so I know its sucks but luckily I had an extend warranty. Anyways I hope this helps good luck getting it fixed.

As soon as you fix it, BACK IT UP!!! This happened to my PS3 too after 5 years (Thats the lifespan of the fat version I guess) & Once I managed to fix it, It only lasted 3/4 days before YLODing forever again...

Sadly Im an idiot & I gamed instead of backing up. You should DEFINITELY back up your system coz its already dead, Youre just gonna revive him for a minute.

This happened to a friend too, Except his lasted 1 week before YLODing again forever.

Going to get a new ps3 160gb tomorrow, the PS3 is gone, I tried everything really. It didn't make it out of surgery. R.I.P

So basically a ylod is comparable to a rrod on a xbox. Hm that sucks anyways I would try to get that game out if it still powers on and try to get it to spit it out.
