Hey SG,

I spend too much time recently with the gog version of this game and quite enjoyed it. As there has been only one GA for Dorfromantik so far, and this GA has been for a small group, here a chance for all of you:

Is it good?
It reminds me of Volantia, which I played time ago from the Humble Trove and, even though I liked the concept, I ended up beating it after a couple of games, playtime around 1 or 2 hours (don't remember).. I was kinda disappointed :\
and I see this is still in Early Access, and I tend to avoid such games, given how most of them end..

I like Dorfromantik but you have to know what you are getting. I have not played Volantia, but from the reviews differences seem to be that you have to build an economy in Volantia, you have a techtree and place chunks of several tiles first and then place your fields; buildings,.. afterwards.
In Dorfromantik you have to place single tiles from a random stack in the best possible position (woods nect to woods, houses nect to houses, ...). Your "research" is limited to find hidden tiles and fullfill their goals (e.g. 20+ neighbouring fields, 100+ connected houses, ...). Once these goals are reached, the special tile is added to your stack for the next playthrough.

Usually I don't like these kind of repetetive games too much, but DR got me hooked.

Perhaps Volantia was not well balanced but reaching the objectives on the map (pillars or something similar) was more important than developing your tribe/town/culture/whatever-it-was. Felt more like a race against time than an expansion/improvement game (if that makes any sense).
This Dorfromantik looks like it doesn't have time restrictions, right? Also, it gives me these 2048-like vibes.. I may just grab a ticket of your lottery =P
Thanks :)

There is no time restriction, but you have to earn new tiles by completing objectives. If you run out of tiles, the game is over.
