That scene when my character in Quake went insane and jumped into lava, that totally shocked me.

Stupid brother pressed strafe button and voila, surprise death :P .

i would say the girls from Jericho, they were not needed in the final fight so the final boss blow the f*ck out of them. I surely did not see that coming and almost was hit by an arm... creepy

The scene itself never really bothered me. And it's not a surprise either, considering most of the game hypes up the fact that you're going to kill her. But then that final shot, where the tear runs down Naked Snake's face at the end of Eva's heartfelt speech... holy shit. I lost it.

Must be every time the Mage died in Purge Jihad. Reason: A friend of mine did the voice-overs for the character and I recorded them. She had me hit her for authentic pain sounds.
Also the Ninja, that I did the voice-overs for.

So.. its not so much a death scene, but the scene in the Witcher 2 where one of the sorceress, under an interrogation gets her eyes removed with a spoon.... totally uncenessary as well as she have given the info they were seeking... Has to be the video game scene that had me almsot shouting WTF are you doing!!! at the screen.

Well not rly shocking but CoD:MW2 (was it 2 or 1?) at the mountain mansion where u get betrayed and wiped out along with ur entire squad. I rly wanted to kill that bastard ASAP after watching that scene helplessly. Now that I think ab it, it was prolly the last CoD game I enjoyed playing.

so sick of saying that aerith chick from ff7... i was glad she died, she was so unlikable and annoying, and it was about time something interesting had finally happened in that game. ugh.

anyway, i dont know about shocking... tend not to get 'shocked', but rather these are my saddest gaming moments involving death :(

i just finished playing knights of the old republic, so im going to say when the big wookie dude killed that little blue space hooker girl... that was sad :(

also joker from arkham city. he was the best thing in that franchise, and yes that includes batman himself... and especially arkham city, he was the heart and soul of that game - the best bit (great game, for sure, but the jokers storyline was the best)

mona sax at the end of max payne 2... quite possibly one of the most emotional and powerful endings to any game. ever. EVER.

Wait, you ordered him to kill her, and then you're sad he killed her - now that's crazy...

And you might like to know Mona Sax can survive MP2, there's different ending when you play on hardest difficulty.

well
-1 i actually tried as hard as i could and there was NO way to save her. i was so sad at having him kill her, i actually reloaded, and decided to put them both down together.. it felt like the right thing to do, given that nothing i did resulted in her surviving :(
-2 yeah i know you can 'save' her by playing on a harder setting, and i've done that, but in my mind, its not canon... its just an easter egg/bonus for people who play on the higher setting. far as the story goes, she died :*( but wow what a powerful ending.

There's easy way to save Mission - don't go bad :P . Really, you're bad sith lord and you cry after some teenage girl :P

As for Mona - I don't know if that was decided whether she died or not, which ending was canon (it would make sense that you must win hardest diff. to see proper ending, doesn't it) - and as far as I remember, there's not a single word about Mona's "status" in Max Payne 3. Max just says something along "I looked for nice face after my wife died, and Mona had nice face, and it was a mistake" and that's all - and that really sucks, seeing that whole MP2 was one big love story that MP3 summarize in one sentence.

I'll partially agree with you, Aerith was definitely not the most interesting character in that game. Still, every time I play that game, it hits me just as much as it did the first time, even though someone told me what happened >.<
