I doubt they'll fail. That Origin subscription service has been around for quite some time. And I can certainly see how it's more appealing to publishers to move to a subscription based distribution model: steady income instead of revenue going down when their game gets older, no more gray market, they don't even have to do regular sales. Everything's "a service" these days, people don't own shit anymore: TV streaming, cloud based application software, even freaking Windows. So, sadly, we'll see even more of that nonsense...

And there's not really a reason to remove them in the future even if they wouldn't do that great, because it basically doesn't cost them anything extra...it's more or less just a flag in the database since the infrastructure is already there.
I just hope they don't try to push it with something like "Exclusive titles only available via subscription" :/

Don't give them ideas. Then again, we already have subscription only exclusives, when you count in certain online games such as World of Warcraft and so on. And it's only a matter of time until someone combines that exclusivity crap (currently being pursued mostly by Epic Games) with a subscription model. Basically they only need one game that's appealing enough to force people into paying.

There is always GOG -- if their DRM-free service proves more popular than subscription services, then subscriptions may disappear and people might go back to actually owning their games.

I downloaded while watching a movie and eating, then played the starter area while it finished downloading. Finally, the download was completer, and I could get into the store to get the map. Now it is uninstalled. Mission accomplished. :)

For $15, you can buy the ubisoft titles when they go on sale. I guess if they have enough games, it's worth paying for a month or two if you have time to marathon the games.
I already know I'll never play steep though so won't bother with free map.

New Steep map is pretty neat, meh about the Uplay subservice tho.
Edit: The Japan map for Steep is so far I can tell always going to be available for free. But from now till the 16th you don't need to grind for it.

Very good that i don't buy this gen consoles ,
with Xcloud + Xbox Game pass and 20€ can play any microsoft xbox exclusive\ip
with Stadia + UplayPlus 20€ can play all ubisoft games + DLCS...
this is my dreams become true...
Now i only need that psnow add ps exclusives on it and nintendo launch their Ncloud service and then i'm very very happy...
For all other games multiplatform etc. there will be Steam or have fun hope luck with Steamgifts

You're saying here that you've told Steam and GOG that you're using a VPN to purchase games on their respective platform so you can get cheaper prices and both told you they were totally ok with that? I gotta admit this is really hard to believe. You have any proof you can back up your claim with?

Yes you can, the analogy still stands. The only difference is, you're doing it virtually. Switching the price tag of an item or using your VPN while comfortably sitting behind your desk has the same goal: fooling the store to pay less than what you're supposed to.

Yes Bloodborne i play too on psnow,but all other ps4 esclusives big and beautiful is really miss uncharted4,spiderman etc. and i think is also stupid thei not add it,because they think if they add it now they lose hardware sales of ps4\ps4pro hardware,but they wrong to think this,first because not all people like streaming,second because not all people can use streaming and third because there is some people just want to buy console for show at friends that they is "rich" or have more than others etc. so hardware will always continue to sell also if they put exclusives but they not understand this and think vice versa.
Also another think they not understand is in this way right now they (sony\playstation) lose money.

I say tutorial but its just the start of the game, do the wingman jump, couple others until you can head out on your own. That's how I just unlocked it.

Hmm that price though. I know origin premium is similar, but they also offer the cheaper option. The trend is concerning, but honestly I don't know that the publishers will ever be able to risk lose straight up sales, because it will always provide a sales boost, especially at launch. A lot of months I don't spend that much on games, and if you need 5 or 6 such subscriptions to get all the games, then most people would just opt for one or two at a time. So without outright sales, most people would cancel and switch accounts regularly, mitigating the constant revenue stream. Instead of a big pre-order and day one sales boost, they'd see a spike in subscriptions when a big game launches, and then a drop off again as people finish the game and the next big thing from another publisher comes.
The day I am no longer able to pay money for the game I want to play, and only the game I want to play, is probably the day I find a new hobby.

Ubisoft is starting a game subsciption service like the xbox game pass or origin access. Meh
