This is a restricted gift which can only be redeemed in certain countries. (Rise of Nations 4-pack)

Hi guys, i just bought me a 4-pack of Rise of Nations to give away here on the site and when i got the gifts in my invent they had these red texts with region restrictions in it. I've seen several topics and i'm aware of the recent Steam changes but i when i bought this 4-pack there wasn't anything mentioned only till after i saw it appear in my inventory like this. I've read that if it is restricted to some countrys, it normally should say wich countrys and it doesn't here. Other people speak from a bug and that they could activate it just fine in the steam trading forums.

What should i believe? I'm from Europe so it wasn't bought in any of the 'so called blocked' countries.

I think it's a glitch but you should be able to gift just fine. I got the same message with my 4 pack and haven't had trouble gifting it to people in other countries. Normally it'll say which countries it can be redeemed in if it actually has restrictions.

Well that is allready a bit reassuring :). Did you also gift to Russians or people from Brazil?
I hope others have had the same experience as you did with these gifts.

they will not work in russia, or the us if you bought them from europe. Some other restrictions are france and germany, but most likely the first 2 countries.

is it not supposed to work the opposite way? (it WOULD be ROW if you buy from EU)
and where did you read there is a special zoning only for France?

Yea i was thinking the same here, why block gifts from countrys that paid the base price or higher, it doesn't make sense. I think valve pushed a big 'block all' button or something and shot theirselves in the leg with it. Also Germany i understand, but France is new to me :)

I had someone from SE Asia telling me he bought this pack and could gift it to someone to the US so i think it's fairly safe to say it's a glitch, if it was restricted it should have mentioned the names of the countrys like i've seen other people had

It's just some glitch. My russian friend bought the 4-pack, and gave me 2 copies. It said the same, and it activated fine for me (europe here), and it was btw before the lock. So, it doesn't matter. No need to worry with this specific one :)

I bought such 4pack in Ukrainian region, it had same mark, but my friends from Europe easily activated gifts with such mark, I dont know countries where it really locked
