Keep in mind it runs at 700 MHZ, that isn't going to be better than your gaming PC. It's great as a multimedia system, but trying to get faster speeds on it v.s your gaming PC. Speed: Raspberry Pi < Gaming PC.
Edit: Even phones nowaday's don't even run at 700 MHZ with 512 MB of RAM. That was 3-4 years ago. But trying to run Linux on that and on top of that trying to achieve speeds greater than a gaming PC, even for just browsing the web and watching YouTube videos isn;t going to happen.

You must not have used too many Linuxes. Puppy Linux, etc. Is pretty much universally faster than anything running Windows. I have installed that on 10 year old pcs and gotten a snappy responsive interface, on par with a $2000 modern pc (Note, a $5000 video cards does not really improve web browsing speed on either OS).

You see that's fine, Raspberry Pi's where made to mess around with and for small multimedia centers. But it was NOT made to outperform a Gaming PC in terms of multimedia performance and web browsing.

I own a Raspberry Pi B+ and I must say that you cannot compare it with a Gaming PC (not even with an old gaming pc). Because this is a single-board pc used to teach programming and computer science, in general. Of course you can use it as a multimedia center, retro console, you can make a home security system or any other project. But you must understand that RPI is not made for performance, as @Angrygamer said RPI's where made to mess around with, to learn.

I have been eyeing these new mini-computers for a while now; You know the Raspberry PI, or some of the less hack-able varieties like the cubox. Does anyone on this board have experience with any of these. I would love a second, portable, bare-bones computer. And I love the idea of a computer under $100 that will run a mini version of linux at the same speed or better than my pc gaming rig.
