Will adding this prevent you from seeing giveaways for the full game? That's the problem with all these free episode ones, the Steam API makes it seem like you own the whole thing when you don't.

It shouldn't. It's a different app id unlike Life is Strange, for example.

well i added 1st episode and sync account with steamgifts. Still can't vote in poll (Poll Requires Games to Vote), so i think will be ok

Hmph, I know. I lost so many giveaways for King's Quest Complete because of that. ;_; And I didn't even get the first episode of King's Quest for free, but when it had a price of 1 euro. But I decided to delete it recently, just to enter one of the giveaways, which I eventually didn't win. :P

Just be aware that adding this to your account will most likely lock you out of all GAs for the Season Pass or Complete Edition just like Life is Strange, Kings Quest...
Also the first episodes of all Telltale games go free eventually.

And if it's treated like a different game, it won't have any achievements and MAYBE it won't even have the same save file, so people will probably want to delete it afterwards if they want to get the full game in the future.

Steam treat this like a Demo, so i think we can enter gibs as well :)

If it says on the appid its in your library it will by 95% chance not be able to enter gibs because it will show up as owned.

Sorry if it's obvious but how do I selectively add Episode 1 to my library? When clicking the steam link in the OP I only see that the whole game is 15% off.

There's no any record in your library before you start downloading game so I think it may be temporary and license/demo download button will disappear after Nov 7. I'm not sure ;p

I was about to say that TellTale is not really a big fan of doing this, the only time I remember them offering an episode for free was the Lincoln one from Sam & max Season 1, and they did it because of a 4th of July.
Then I saw the Steam scores and the recent reviews in their glorious Mixed status. Apparently, it is damage control.

I'm not complety sure if they had it for Steam as well but I know I platinumed The Wolf Among Us Episode 1 when it was free on XBox 360 and I vaguely remember they did the same with The Walking Dead S1 Episode 1. Tales from the Borderlands Episode 1 is free on all platforms except PC as well so I rather had the impression they do it with all their games to get people to buy the Season Pass. I wonder why apparently not on PC but maybe it is because PC has a stronger playerbase for Adventure games.

Just finished it and really enjoyed the game despite the fps drops. Now I wonder if I get to keep my saves after I buy the full game, or do I have to start all over, anyone knows?

Thanks for the heads up. Like most Telltale games, it was great. There were some twists-as in characters in the Batman universe are slightly different from other stories.
It's FULL episode 1 but (like a DEMO on Steam) when you remove local content it removes the episode from your library (even after you finish episode 1).
From the store there are episodes 2 and 3 available now. 4 and 5 are in the works.
