Is it just me, or are VALVe games extremely hard to forcequit?

In Windows 7, when I can't alt-tab out of them it seems that I can just Ctrl+Alt+Delete, which lets me bring up the task manager, which then lets me forcequit hl2.exe quite easily. (This includes TF2, and presumably Portal as well.)

TF2 can't be alt-tabbed out of when it's busy working on something, such as when the game is loading or when it semi-freezes when you're connecting to a server. And under certain other circumstances I haven't yet completely figured out.

Well, I was playing HL2:DM with a friend and my game froze, I found it almost impossible to CTRL+ALT+DEL and had to restart my computer.

What I do to not reboot the pc is to use the sleep key from the keyboard, after it went to sleep I start it again and the applications can be killed because they are all minimized, at least most of the times.

I don't remember where I grabbed it (and the name too), but I use a kind of script to (one-shot) kill a process if it can't close with ALT+F4 (I assigned it to a macro key on my keyboard). It works with all the games or soft I know.
