Just realized and found out there is a Chinese platform which is quite similar to Steam named CUBE GAME is actually offering more than 20 over classic Chinese PC games for FREE in a limited time.

Among the FREE titles include those very well known 仙剑奇侠传 series, from episode 1 up to episode 3 外传问情篇 and the 轩辕剑 series from episode 3 up to episode 汉之云. These are well known and best sellers in the Chinese RPG pc games market back at year 1997.

There are many other games FREE such as 仙剑客栈、赵云传 and etc.

Grab the chance. They are FREE for limited time.

To enjoy those games, you must first register an account and download their Steam alike client in Chinese, named CUBE GAME 方块游戏 (https://app.cubejoy.com/download.html). Then look for 限免. There you can find the full list of games which are free.

Tested 轩辕剑三外传天之痕, it works nicely on my Windows 10 (with Windows XP compatibility mode). Full screen 4:3 resolution with full Chinese Traditional text.

P/S: They are all in CHINESE language text.

Click on each game in the list, then click on the big blue button to buy, and follow the checkout screen (only need to click once to confirm order, no need to enter payment info).

I have no idea why you mention CD key, but you can just go to the store in browser and add the games one by one. There is no entry of CD key here.

免费游戏添加到购物车,然后结算就会自动入库,虽然订单里面也会给你个key,但是并没有什么用,。

I know absolutely no Chinese, Traditional, Mandarin or otherwise but it never hurts to stockpile more games. Who knows, maybe one day I'll wake up a polyglot.

They are licenses that are applied to your account after checkout. There are no keys you need to activate if you buy directly from their store-you just need to download their client, sign in, install, and play.

Thanks for the post! These games have been free on this store for quite a while. I'm pleasantly surprised that folks who can't read Chinese are interested in these classic titles. Hopefully they get English (and other languages) releases someday-they are absolutely worth playing. 轩辕剑三 and 轩辕剑三外传天之痕 (and maybe even 仙剑奇侠传二 too) are great candidates for English release on Steam in the future.

Yea, in fact I wish so much that the developer would consider to actually port those great work and introduce them in other languages. They were released on mobile platform since 2016. I am waiting it to come to Steam though.

Yup. Bought those two on iOS. They have aged pretty well and the developers seem to still have the code (unlike the unfortunate case with 新仙剑奇侠传). Really looking forward to getting them on Steam (perhaps with added content for 天之痕 like how 轩辕剑三 got new content added after 18 years based on unused story ideas that weren't originally put in the game due to time and budget constraints).

Now I'm looking for a new copy of 霹雳群侠传 since mine stopped working...maybe the new surge of interest in Pili from Thunderbolt Fantasy can encourage Softstar and Pili to bring about a rerelease?

Edit: THEY HAVE 霹雳群侠传! Sweet!

If only they were translated to any other language :(

I would definitely create fan translation patches for the Xuan-Yuan Sword series if I knew how to replace the in-game text for the games. I started working on translating the Steam release of 仙剑奇侠传五前传, but then it suddenly got region locked to China only (making it kind of pointless as non-Chinese players cannot even get the game). :( Maybe in the future I can record some let's plays of the series and just translate as I go.

I copy/pasted in the search word tankienmun recommended to find all the free games, and this is what I saw for results: http://prntscr.com/ic1hm3 Are the free games not free anymore? Or what am I doing wrong? Thanks!

The link provided in the OP works. The ones marked ¥0.00 are free to claim. You can search for 仙剑 and 轩辕剑 for good games.

Hmm thx. What button do I click to claim them? I'm not sure what all the different colors are. I tried copy pasting the text to google translate but it copies the whole page. Edit: Tried that anyway and I'm still not sure which translations are for the button texts.

Thx. I did notice that one game only had the blue button, glad that's the one I need to click and not something that's for China only.

Oh for clarification, this blue button? http://prntscr.com/ic25g0 the text on it is different than what you posted above.

And like I was saying this is the one I saw that only has the blue button to click: http://prntscr.com/ic25wk

Oh. Those are just entries on lists. You can click on the cover images or the large blue text (game titles) next to them to go to their individual store pages. The colored label things are descriptive tags for sorting. I'll be able to make up a guide with images later on.

Sadly no. In fact I have no idea whether the developer has any plan for translated version.
Somehow I am very sure the games sure would attract a lot of player from different parts of the world if happen it releases in other languages.
In fact I am willing to join in for any translation work but where to approach? I am really looking forward for it to appear in Steam some days.
