Half-Life 2 Synergy Server

Hi,

I am trying to create a Half-Life 2 Synergy server for me and my friend, and everytime we try to join eachothers servers, it keeps saying, "Server not Responding". I have tried hamatchi, and that didnt seem to work. If anyone could tell me why this is and how to fix it, i would be greatly appreciable.
