I just launched the steam store page to go look at the daily deal, and I noticed that the pre-order for Port Royale 3 is now up. The game comes out May 3rd. Anyone else here a fan of Port Royale 2 who has been waiting forever for a sequel?

I got PR2 at least 5 years ago on disc, and later during a steam sale, I got it again on steam so I could have a digital copy.

I will admit that PR3 really simply looks like a graphically updated version of PR2, but the mere inclusion of multiplayer alone makes it worth it to me.

regarding the changes they made from Port Royale to PR2, PR3 actually looks quite different ;-)

I enjoyed the first two games a fair bit all the years ago (actually mainly the first one),but I'm not quite sure if 45€ is worth another version of this game...

As an economics student, I certainly hope there'll be room to apply some of what I learned (by the way, the page for PR3 gives out a 404, it's probably region-locked for now). Plus it helps me study ^^

In case you were wondering:
For the first time in the acclaimed Port Royale series, you are not alone in the beautiful and seemingly so peaceful seas of the Caribbean. The Multiplayer mode allows up to 4 players to play through LAN or over the Internet. Develop a successful trading company, lead your ships in beautiful 3D naval battles and force your opponents to their knees!

Key Features:

Two different single player campaigns: Adventurer and Trader
Naval battles, raids, plundering and invasions await the Adventurer, while the Trader will develop trade routes and the economy to earn glory, fortune and power
16 different ship types, such as powerful Galleons or versatile Frigates
Organize trade with 60 different cities such as Port-au-Prince or Tortuga
A competitive Multiplayer mode for up to 4 players
A comprehensive trade system, with supply and demand dynamically setting the price of goods and wares, like in the real world

Multiplayer seems awesome with friends, but, as an economist, there we go again: trade and demand... it is much more complex than that, and simply having trade and demand won't do for the hardcore-seekers ^^

WHOOOOO! I kind of loved PR2, even though I barely grasped the basics years ago.

Though PR3 only looks like a polished PR2 on the first sight.
