Scammers profile links aren't allowed here, if you want to send him the links message him or comment on his profile.

Why would you get in to a trade with someone behind two obvious "dummy profiles", anyway?

"Too good to be true" deal I would bet. Guy was likely offering Rust at an impossibly low price (lower than all the legit traders) to sucker in people that go for a "great deal" over a safe one.

Sorry, but that's not allowed on SG. I'm not sure about posting stuff in the ST forum, but I think you're supposed to just report it to the mods along with evidence (screenshots, etc.).

If it seems too good to be true, it likely is.

Stick to reputable, high-rep traders who are trading their game for an acceptable price.

Let Steam Support know, if you paid with keys or games, and they can reverse it, I believe.

Contact steam support, they ll take a bit but eventually they will refund you, it happened to me the same way using tf2 keys as trade method for the gift, after contacting steam support I got the keys and the game back.

Buying from a trader is not "scamming", and not all traders are scammers. You just need to watch who you buy from.

I have bought dozens and dozens of games from traders and have never received a message like OP is showing.

I do hate them, but I'm not gonna lie, I kind of think that every person that get scammed (I'm talking about Steam-related stuff only) it's kind of their own fault, I mean come on you can easily identify a suspicious trade can't you? Just stick to high rep public profile traders I guess.

Pretty much. I don't like to victim blame (the thief is truly at fault after all) but people need to stay safe with trades.

Stick to high rep traders, make sure you check for impersonators, if anything seems fishy/rushed/to-go-to-be-true then just back out right away. Worst case, you lose out on a good deal but best case is you don't get scammed.

that's easily said as an experienced trader. you won't fall for scammers, neither will i. but beginners have a hard time with their first trades. many don't even know what an impersonator is.

How can he remove the gift? I've given a few gifts to some friends, never found an option to cancel it.
Otherwise it would be too easy, i find one person give him rust and take his keys, cancel, find an other person and keep doing the same.

Charge-backs I think. Note: Neeeevermind, see below.

Stolen credit cards.

Buy a bunch of games, trade them for Keys or Paypal. Once the credit card company revokes/reverses the charges Steam reclaims all the games bought (even if the game was gifted to another account).

Ouch, ok. I understand better, so this isn't just your "low level" scammers if they do these things with stolen credit cards...

They could be using a payment service that allows some sort of charge-back/funds reversal; but either way as soon as the money is clawed back from Steam, they remove all the games associated.

Not a very common thing to be honest; I've been trading for 2 years and have never had it happen. Sticking to high-rep traders that have been trading for 1+ years is your best shot at avoiding this scam.

Stop buying games at prices that are impossible, it's as simple as that. The lowest possible price for Rust is 6 keys. I'm guessing you saw it at a much lower price, probably like 3 or 4 keys each and jumped on it for that price.

While it does suck to see someone get scammed, if you just use your common sense and reign in your greed, you can sniff out those suspicious offers almost immediately.

What most likely happened was the trader used a stolen card to buy a copy. Then he gave that copy to you. Then the original card holder reported the card stolen and their bank took back the money from Steam. Then Steam deactivated the game.

Buying straight from the store is the only way to truly avoid this.

Remember: If a price is too good to be true, it usually isn't.
