https://steamdb.info/sub/622634/

According to SteamDB, there is a chance we're getting Battlefield V free on Steam starting 26 August 2021 – 17:00:00 UTC. The leak suggest that the Battlefield 5 giveaway would last for... 1 second. The expiry time the event seems therefore extremely unlikely, but let's just hope that the giveaway itself will indeed start tomorrow!

Steamdb upd
Battlefield 5 will not be free for one second, that package has a state of unavailable. We're not sure why we were able to fetch package info for it without a token (it does require a token now so the info is outdated as the page says), but it is clearly a mistake. Perhaps they were trying to make a free weekend package.

The game is sadly near unplayable due to cheaters. Tried it a few months ago and almost every server had a guy with 60 kills and 2 deaths.

in bf those stats dont have to imply cheating, easiest way is farming infantry in a vehicle for example

Nah, everyone else was below 20 kills. It's definitely cheating.

They were below 20 kills because the other guy grabbed the rest of the kills. :D

TTK is insanely low, compared to other shooters, I'd think "stealing" kills is a non issue in BFV.

They meant not that somebody finished enemy mostly damaged by someone else (usual definition of kill stealing), but stuff like, one guy is riding in a tank slaying left and right, and his teammates just run behind without anyone to shoot.
BF is a highly casual game so stuff like that actually happens sometimes (when enemies can't organize to counter and instead just keep running forward and dying). Actually, I think I once got like 15 kills streak in BF3 on CQ map by accident, I wish I was recording that, sadly back then I didn't record stuff so all I have now is a burning memory :(

Yeah the lack of community hosted servers or proper anti-cheat (omly uses Fair Fight I think) wasn't a great decision of EA/DICE. I really hope 2042 learns from that mistake.

I'm not holding out any hope at all for 2042, they don't care about and aren't capable of stopping cheats, waste of time.

yeah no. if it were even really for a second, steams servers would collapse from the absolute ass-fucking it would get.... and since valve doesnt even get any benefit from it, its a hassle they wouldnt want.

id imagine this will be an 'enjoy it free for a couple of days' kinda deal.

They already giving free key on Origin DRM (or was giving for month) ... why its so surprising for many ppl? (even u get it on Steam you still need Origin anyway)
//but nwm, such giveaways killing games... every kid makes 50 accounts and using cheats on em... they get one account banned so he login to other and continue for ages... i think BFV will be totally unplayable (or already is, idk, i dont play). And of course they become toxic aswell. They want to destroy game?

VPN and disposable card? :) / steam friend from other country?
everywhere is way.. also even that it was free for 19/20 ppl
also if u wasnt able to get key there was ppl trading it for few steam gems (few cents and u can get free), cards (few cents and u can get free) other freebies etc

Yes, same. Just wanted to say it was simply free... (for total majority of people)

But its its already totally unplayable. Whats your point? Most FPS games have a huge amount of cheaters and making this game free for one day won't change anything.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Point is when game is paid, lets say 30€ (never on heavy discount) there is waaay less cheaters than in f2p / giveaway game. Naturally.
Thats why i say.
Yes one day will not change anything, sadly Origin keys was available to take for like 30 days, and there is still trilion copies around that u can activate until they expire to activation. If before there was 1k cheaters now its 100k cheaters. (random numbers sure)

This makes sense, they have given BF4, 1 and V for free on Prime Gaming, aswell as selling the complete packages for BF4 and 1 for 5 dollars, V is the only one missing.

One could thnk its obvious that you are not able to redeem something even if you would manage to try within that one second margin for something that has a status of "Unavailable".

Being a BF fanboy from the BF1942 until BF4, I loved the franchise (especially in communities) after BF 4 had no private servers (no way to filter hackers out).
Got BF1 and BF5 for free on origin for free (via Amazon Prime) and I wasnt excited enough to try to play.

Finally downloaded BF5 on Steam (appears to be separate account from origin even tho it uses Origin as Origin says I played 0 hours in its browser), Im actually having fun in the single player.

Same account as Origin, but they count as separate games as per this picture:
