I did not realize other than Left 4 Dead(series) and the usual CoD zombie mode, there are no popular zombie mode games on steam. Killing Floor 2 is a somewhat outlier. What else can I get for that zombie mode experience in case I don't want to play Left 4 Dead 2 with a reasonable player population.

Well they do have arenas for to you survive in altough not too indepth like with Killing Floor. Never heard of Zombies Monsters Robots aka ZMR ? Thats a PVE and a PVP game with zombies in them, a horde mode. Another similar game exists with the Word Bio something in it... Haunted Hell's Reach is a good horde mode game. Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6 have Mercanaries mode that are horde mode survival arenas, 5 and 6 has multiplayer with them if i remember, survive with a friend. Doom is going to get horde modes made just like in Killing Floor. Should be more games if you look around.

I have been thinking about that, but EA marketing bullshit has put me in a reluctant mood. Also I am not sure how many players regularly play the first game and the sequel.

Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare and its sequel are fantastic games, forget about EA for a moment and just play the darn game/s, their fantastic, way more fun than the original tower defence games. Just try it, it wont hurt, should still have alot of players, their good games.

7 Days to Die

You can join a PVE only server and create a horde type game play yourself. After getting some weapons and building a defensive structure, simply place around 5-10 campfires and light them all. No need to actually cook anything just having them lit is enough to attract a horde to you. As long as they stay lit the zombies will just keep coming.

Ah yes, horde type 4-6 player squad like Left 4 Dead(4 player) or Killing Floor(6 player). No PvP included like DayZ where a person must survive against zombies AND online humans. No survival where a person must craft things; weapons and items are given but need to be discovered or bought.
