Is this a remedy for your boredom?
Worse. Epic game store.
40% owned by Tencent, which is in a special relationship with the PRC government - aka they get your data.
BBC reported in Jan 2025 that USA designated Tencent as a Chinese Military company. (I am not sure the rules on posting links, so I will just suggest you search for it.
It's not me being anti-Chinese, it's more me being anti-government involvement in my hobbies. I don't even have an Epic account. Even if Steam were to implode, I would not have one if Epic is still 'comprimised.' If Gaben were to sell out to a government, I'd be out of Steam too (despite my massive sunk cost).

Having American Nightmare in T1 is weird since it is the "sequel" or inbetween. From a buisness perspective it makes sensce though. Especially since you have "different" customer. The Epic people will buy T2 for the remaster and Steam people for the Collector's Edition.
In order to justify the existence of T1, American Nightmare has been shoehorned in there as it is luckily standalone. However, one could argue the Max Payne games are good enough alone already.

Before someone goes usual "when AW2 to steam" then answer is "It was paid by Epic its not just exclusive deal like others" or maybe in 2035, who knows.
Aside from that, if you liked Control storytelling style, youll like AW2. Its different combat tho. More RE styled for cop, Saga, and more SH for Alan imo.
Max Payne 1 and 2 are old school with pros and cons. Very Y2K / PS2 styled gameplay.
Death Rally, their first game, is not the OG version on this bundle - thats free on steam https://store.steampowered.com/app/358270/Death_Rally_Classic/ . Also game I loved as kid. Even had Duke Nukem lmao.

What I know is that Epic paid for the game to be made in exchange for the EGS version only. Without them, AW2 wouldnt have been made. I heavily doubt its temporary - but if it is it could be up to 10 years like AW1 was with Xbox.
Yeah theres possibility they will buy the right to sell it on steam but thats risky. I mean Epic could just straight up ask the money back they spend, that could be over 50 million. So if they would continue selling the game for 50$ on steam, valve taking 30% and some tax stuff on top they'd have to sell like what.. 1.8 million copies on steam alone to break even.
I kinda doubt theres 1.8 million steam users who would a) never ever buy game on EGS + b) actually want AW2 + c) havent bought AW2 on console or whatever + d) has rig that can play it

Isn't sweet baby inc a consultancy company? You usually pay those for their service rather than the other way around, it'd be like going to the lawyer for legal assistance and then at the end asking them to pay you for answering your questions.

I heard it has 50% more cowbell than the previous games.

This picture should be enough I would say. Found on reddit and should be a first thing you get when you search 'Alan Wake 2 steam'
I bought the game a few months ago when it was on sale on epic. Haven't gotten to it yet but I don't really care where I have it at this point. So many launchers for so many games, what's one more with occasional good free games.

Heavy recycled bundle, T2 is still pricy, but T3 is nonsense. Who would waste this price for AW2 deluxe on Epic where is a solid chance to be Alan Wake 2 for free until the end of the year?
Comment has been collapsed.
I wouldnt say zero chance. It is all down to finances. If they are already putting it in a bundle (with heavy price, but still) maybe it is not "that" successful in sales. If it slows down and bundle doesnt also give them enough recenue, they might resort to giving it for free in order to attract more users to the platform.
But of course that is just speculation. But if this is the case, the chance it going free is rather normal.

Won't lie - seriously considering T3. The feedback I've seen about it indicates it's a must play, and I couldn't care less if it's on Steam, EGS, or Legacy Games

I was considering this deal:
https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/kRB2J/gmg-alan-wake-2-deluxe-for-18-21
So this full bundle with both Alan Wake games for EPIC and a few other games you might not have doesn't look that bad!

And this is precisely why we don't get good games anymore.
Comment has been collapsed.
The whole point of timed PC exclusives or permanent exclusives makes no sense. All developers that tried it with Epic are running back to Steam. I'm certain if Remedy had approached Valve first they could have come to some agreement and not the mess we have today.

Missing Death Rally and Alien Wake 2, don't want either. I mean Epic Games games.

I just wonder did the strategy pan out for epic in the end.
Did they manage to get enough paying customers to be self sufficient?
Did they get back money from AW2? Or is it all just big bullshit hissy fit from creator of epic that will end in a spectecular failiure? I mean, probably not if it has held on for so long. But is it such a success that it can continue easily give away free games still and keep such exclusives only for the store?

regarding products from the developer "Remedy"... on September 12th, Vida their "Senior Community Manager" seemed really dismissive of Jay Graber (the head of BlueSky) when he said "threats of violence have no place in public discourse." on September 10th

I won't be buying any more Remedy products until I see a response from Tero Virtala the Remedy CEO about this callous attitude of employees who publicly associate their online vitriole with Remedy's name.

That list of CK quotes is quite the indictment of CK. I can see why Vida would not be empathetic towards someone like that.
Comment has been collapsed.
People assume a lot of things.
What we know as a definite based on his own words is that CK wasn't a person to be mourned. Period. The fact that this fact completely misses you is quite telling. The fact that you're going out of your way to cancel people for not caring about a hatemonger is also quite the statement.
Bye bye.

I disagreed with a lot of Kirk's opinions, what I'm mourning is moreso the principle of open debate that was attacked and which people are mocking. If people were making fun of him slipping in the shower and dying I'd be a lot more understanding.
Comment has been collapsed.
It wasn't really open debate however. It was the pretense of debate against kids who he could easily trap during these "debates". We're not going to pretend he actually cared about real open debate.
Did you get upset with Kirk when after a school shooting, he said some people have to die to preserve the 2nd amendment? The people he was referring to were children who were murdered. How about when he tried to fund bail for Paul Pelosi's attacker? How about when he mocked George Floyd after Floyd was murdered? You seem very selective in your outrage.
People are defined in death by who they were in life. Kirk in life was somebody unworthy of being mourned. Point blank period. It's not even worth debating since there is no debate. The facts are what they are. He won't be missed.

There's alot of great art made by terrible people. You can dissociate the two from one another. Why deprive yourself? Look at Braid, that game was monumental for the indie scene. Yet there's people who refuse to grant it the accolades it deserves based on the creators outlook. Just because the masses are delusional doesn't' mean you have to be to. Let the art speak for itself.

oh I actually already own some Remedy stuff from b4 hearing about this and do intend to play them, they look interesting and probably will be fun - it just makes me a lot more patient in waiting for future sales and more eager to prioritize trying out other devs who focus more on making products
