For me I wanted Prey too so it was better to get the Prey and D2 bundle and then get the other two separately.

Hey guys, because nobody mentioned it yet, if you don't have any of the Dishonored games, DON'T go for the Complete bundle. Instead, get the Dishonored Dishonored Definitive Edition Bundle + Dishonored: Death of the Outsider - Deluxe Bundle, you'll save yourself a bunch of money. :/

I don't understand why Dishonored: Death of the Outsider - Deluxe Bundle is for sale only on Steam and Humble Store.
It would be cheaper in other stores with coupons/code/vouchers :(

Fallout 4 GOTY + Skyrim is also not available anywhere other than Steam, but thanks to regional pricing it is cheaper to buy them on GMG individually.

No money for you Gabe!

Also this from Steam cart:

"If purchasing for yourself, you will not receive an extra copy of:
Fallout 4"

That is pretty disgusting , they're happy for you to buy it again but you can't have the extra copy put in your gift inventory due to owning the base game already.

I have a question for the Fallout 4 players (and modders) - are the DLCs for the game necessary to run mods, or it can all be patched to run with the base game with no DLCs?

Permalink

I only had the base game when I played and was able to add many mods without any issues. You just have to be careful and read. It's mentioned if DLCs must be installed or if a mod will work with the vanilla edition.

Thank you for the valuable feedback. I am mainly concerned about textures, apparel and aesthetics and not so much on changing the story or mechanics... I appreciate you commenting! =)

What NazaSekh said sums it up pretty nicely. Also, most of those who complain about Fallout4 being unstable and buggy usually have DLCs involved with those issues. I've only played the base game and it runs pretty well for me and - some of the Fallout DLCs have extremely negative reviews (Far Harbour seems to be nice though).

Thank you as well! I am more like, either All DLC or no DLCs at all. But I cannot find exact information if I will need DLCs for certain mods. Will research more and share if I find something definitive.

My, rather subjective, experience is, that all the really important mods work just fine with only the base game. Nexusmods should list for each mod if there's any DLC requirements besides the base game, sometimes they even have two versions: one with DLCs and one for base game only. In any case, if the mod doesn't explicitely say that it needs DLC xy, it really shouldn't, so maybe you just go check out which mods you want to use and if any of them rely on DLCs?

Ah, so if it doesn't say anything just the base game is fine - what I needed to know! Thanks!

What Carlica said. I would recommend True Storms, it's pretty "rad".
Aaaaand in the requirements, it states This mod does not have any known dependencies other than the base game.

It looks very cool, yes! I am visiting the "Files" section there - is that where I should be looking?
Or I guess I have to be registered to see a requirements tab?

I wasn't logged in when I checked the True Storms mod. The bit I quoted can be found on the "Description" tab. Lower your eyes a bit and you'll see Requirements, just click on it. :)

Regarding GMG - Please note that you need to buy one game at a time, with each purchase you will get 15% off the next purchase of one game for (hopefully) the best deal on most regions.

Hmmm... do I want Skyrim?

I have Morrowind and found that bunny hopping EVERYWHERE to level up acrobatics or something for 100+ hours is not quite my idea of fun... it's the primary cause to my abandoning Morrowind altogether, and it's THAT experience that soured me on Elder Scrolls, basically. Skipped Oblivion because I thought it would be a horrifying reminder of Morrowind's terrible jump fest.

Are there any repetitive, multiple, multiple hour draining features on Skyrim such as acrobatics? I'm debating whether I should look at Skyrim a little more closely, but if there's silly tedious gameplay features like acrobatics that exist, then it's probably best that I skip...

Nah, Skyrim is a lot better with perks and abilities. No annoying jumping. But I miss the armor management of Oblivion.
In Morrowind I really didn't bother with the acrobatics much. Just got the boots of blinding speed and a lengthy levitation spell and could pretty much get anywhere...depends on your build. Though honestly I've never played a game where NPC's give such bad directions (kind of like people in real life). Should be turned into a feature.

I see. No acrobatics leveling sounds like a GIGANTIC relief.

On that note, I think I'm going to research Skyrim a bit more.

There's no silly level mechanics like bunny hopping, there are still the use your skills to level it up system when fighting or sneaking around or crafting and such. Of course, you can also mod the heck out of skyrim including "exp booster" type mods so you don't have to swing around your sword 1000 times before you level up on that tree if you want. Modding is 25% of the game xD

It's at a good price for the SE version, I'd recommend playing it.

I find it unlikely that I get into "exp booster" type of mods.

Kinguin's Crazy Free Weekends this week will have Skyrim Legendary Edition, I'm gonna monitor that one closely while I do research regarding whether LE or SE is the right one for me.

I don't particularly understand how Creation Club credits work, gonna have to look that up, does that mean EVERY single mod costs something? Cuz that sounds yuck.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Admittedly, I played Skyrim before Creation Club was a thing so I have no idea how it is now. Maybe someone else can explain that. Nexus mods is still free I'm sure though so you can browse mods there. LE is fine, I played it with 70 mods, they released the newer SE to be more stable for using more mods I believe and 64 bit or something, not an expert on the versions. They might've also updated the graphics but everyone who downloaded graphic mods had superb views already.

I would get SE and use Nexus mods. Almost all mods that were being updated or new are for the SE version.

You don't need to bunny hop to level up acrobatics in Morrowind, that was just something you did because you wanted to do it quickly.

Many gamers in gaming have weird quirks, things that they are compelled to do for whatever reason, because it exists.

Bunny hopping in Morrowind was one of mine... until it ultimately soured me on the game :(. Hopping everywhere got old, tedious, and plainly just wasn't fun to me, personally.

I guess I bunny hopped everywhere because the game allowed me to (plus the skilling factor, yeah... and yikes!)... except looking back on the experience, I see that it was massively detrimental to my overall enjoyment of the game.

I didn't get very far into Morrowind either, I just got sick of it eventually. The crashes with mods got tiresome too.

Oh well, onward and upward!

Well, that's what I'm trying to say. You could just have stopped hopping everywhere. To me, this sounds like a very odd complaint about the game since you're ruining your own experience

You're right and it sounds a bit OCD. Just because something exists it doesn't mean that you have to use it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yep... I haven't been diagnosed as OCD but am kinda OCD about certain things in games.

Like talking to each NPC at least 3 times.

For Morrowind, it's that + the jumping thing.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well I wouldn't consider talking to NPCs multiple times OCD as over the years we've been conditioned as gamers to do so just in case there is additional dialogue to see or hidden things to uncover. For the bunny hopping though (which is usually an unintended thing in games) it's a different story.

The dlc is supposedly amazing and is rouge like.

Also I saw dishonored 2 has no DLC just a standalone expansion:)

So therefore you can grab it after youve finished D2 :)
