So I finally decided to get Borderlands 2, and got the GOTY version to save myself a lot on the DLC costs (I hate not having access to all a game has to offer) then realized... there's still a shit ton of DLCs not included in it (thankfully mostly are skins though).

I kinda knew the ultimate vault hunter upgrade pack 2 was not included, but apparently there are the headhunter DLCs that contain mini-missions. Now I don't really care about in-game skins (not that you can see them often in a first-person view game anyways), so my question is: are they worth it for the gameplay content itself? It'll cost me about 2 keys (and as a comparison I got GOTY for 3 keys) to get all 5 headhunter packs.

And how about the 2nd UVHU pack? Costs ~6 refs - is is worth it, or should I wait for a further discount (do DLCs like this ever get higher than 67% discount)?

Any other non-skin DLCs I might've missed, and you would recommend to get?

First I'd say play the game for awhile, and if you enjoy it to the point that you see yourself playing it for a fair bit of time, grab the UVHU packs. The level cap raise they provide is invaluable to extending play time, and the second upgrade comes with a new quest area, and new guns.

Personally I don't think the headhunter packs are worth it, but if you find Borderlands 2 is the greatest game you've ever played, you'd probably enjoy the extra hour or so of playtime that each of the headhunter packs grants.

Daeeedal pretty much said what I would say regarding this. I love the game, so anything that extends playtime is/was worth it for me. Try before you buy, however.

This sums up what I was going to say.

You can always go back and get the Headhunter packs after you beat the GOTY version, if you want a little more content. They're pretty disposable, but a little more content never hurts. UVHU 2 is worth getting for the level cap upgrade, but it doesn't really matter until you're already high level, so that's another one that can wait for a good sale.

The headhunter packs are like small updates, i played only the first one and i liked it, but it's probably just content for people who want to explore some new things, even if they aren't that large. Though one of the headhunters brings crawmerax or something alike, which was the big boss from borderlands 1... it's up to you to decide.

Headhunter DLCs offer more or less about an hour of gameplay with their own little story and as reward at the end you get an unique head skin(which is useless if you play solo).
Now I personally like 1,4,5 from HH DLCs but 2,3 also got a bit of charm. So if you think that this 5hours of gameplay will worth the 5keys go ahead and get them.

I buy the GOTY from GMG and i waiting for some disccount in the saga to grab VH pack 2 (first) and then go for the HH's, they say the best are the 4 and 5. The skins never mind not needed at all. Also if you have the Poker Night 2 you can unlock some extra skins when you beat the game.

I played BL2 including all DLCs local coop with buddies and each of the Headhunter DLCs keept us busy for about an evening if you play rather slow and have to wait a little for your partner to sell stuff. If after 500 h (or however long it takes you to do everything else beside the Headhunter DLCs) you still can´t get enough of the game GET THEM. They offer decent content even for the official (release) price.

Same goes for second LVL cap upgrade although you´ll probably just need it if you plan to replay the game on True Vault Hunter & Ultimate Vault Hunter (= New game +) otherwise you won´t hit the LVL cap.

The DLCs add some nice missions.
But i can't say if they are part of the DLCs you are talking about.
I bought Borderlands 2 and all the DLCs at the same time before beginning the game.

I've played 230 hours of BL2, you don't need anything else besides the GOTY to be honest.

I also bought the GOTY and immediately added the headhunter packs and the 2nd UVHU pack cuz it's cheap at the moment (and might not be later should I decide I want them as well) and if I'm gonna get a game I want to play every possible mission available which includes these silly themed missions I'm afraid.
