If you don't redeem, a gift can be recalled.

Why it's handy to redeem it straight away, same as if you would win a gift.

not right , that option possible only if the user i send him the gift isn't accept my gift so i can ask to return them to me,
but if it was on his inventory, you cant recall it.

what happened: the 2 gifts was bought and then the buyer ask for money back so the game revoked

They probably got revoked because he probably used a stolen paypal to buy them or something like that.

ask steam for return
it was legit trade,
steam will help you cause the scam was on trade with phone authentication i belive.
they have to help you

btw it your fault to trade with someone that you dont know, UNTRADEABLE gift... dont do it,
untradeable gift mean it no past 30 days so the buyer can revoked the gifts

Nope, it was not a legit trade since it didn't even go thru the same trade window, plus steam no longer returns items that were scammed

Gifts can be revoked by the gifter.

he sent the gifts by email to you and you didn't redeem them to your inventory?

because once they are in your inventory, they can't be moved back to the sender.
unless he made a chargeback and steam revoked them.

yes he send me by email..
and how do we revoke a sent gift ??

we don't, steam does. He may have used stolen funds for those gifts, a stolen credit card, or maybe did a chargback through his bank/paypal

He did say he was sure it was already in his inventory though. So probably the gift was revoked through chargeback

how does steam chargeback works ?

The person can just add steam funds/ purchase the gift through paypal or bank account.
After the payment, the person can then chargeback through paypal or bank account by contacting them, which reverses the payment. (thus getting their money back, and cancel any order they made [which can be up to a few months ago])

Which is why you should always do a trade (especially huge trades) when you have sufficient info on what you are doing.
Do not give in to greed, do enough research before doing a trade.
You can only take this as a lesson, and be more careful next time.

Maybe this might be a good read https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/Idw0Z/make-faq-about-trades#kBXLaoD

Let's make that guy to regret that he scammed you! He may eventually get a perm trade ban if he receive many reports over his steam profile.
Your part, OP: Reply here with the proof of trade (screenshot link of your inventory history), the text message of report (so we can report him on his steam profile) and after that post his steam profile link up to my steam profile (comments section).
My part (and maybe others which will follow): I'll go to his profile and report his steam profile with your text message and screenshot as proof.

I'll help with my part, but I hope the OP part won't be considered a calling out.
But yeah, that guy must get a perma trade ban or so.
