This is pretty much the same thing in the opposite direction as simply reducing the amount of points being generated, which I'm in favour of.

Well that is because I believe the points are being generated at an acceptable rate, I just believe if the system required more points to enter it would server as more of a wall to prevent people from entering every raffle they can.

How is having less points any different then everything costing more?
Both do the same thing.

Make every giveaway cost 50P independently from the price. Private ones might have this set to the traditional system.

"As I have been seeing on a regular basis and reading as well there are still to many points and people are entering for raffles on games they don't even really want."
This is the exact same thing.

What I meant by reading is rather than seeing is reading comments like this posted by yourface, "So im kind of bored of this website now, and i had 300 points so i decided to join every giveaway i could. now lets see if i will win something!"
Where as seeing, I was referring to my own points and the points of friends that I have on here as well.
Thus two different things.

I disagree, if every giveaway was 50 points, people wouldn't be able to enter as many, and more points would be used. With the 300 point cap, 50 x 6 = 300, 6 giveaways per day if you have 300 points, also, if the game was 5 dollars on steam, and it cost 50 points to enter, that is 10x more points than it would first be. It would just be a terrible system.

That's my idea, not the thread's. The root of that idea is forcing people to pick the giveaways they really want, instead of picking all giveaways they can.

I've always wanted system like this. I came up with an idea a while ago where you get 10 entries max, and an entry generates 24 hours after the giveaway you spent it on expired. This would keep people entering for only things they really want. Everything would cost one "entry" to try for.

I never said make them all cost 50p, i said multiple its current cost, 1p game=2-3 point game, 10p game = 20-30p entry fee now, AND YES YOU ENTER LESS. IT MAKES YOU ONLY ENTER ONES FOR GAMES YOU REALLY WANT. people here need to be so much less greedy with free things being given out.

I can see this work, but 10x is such a huge number.

why not just give the giveaway creator the ability to control the points cost to enter ( to a certain degree like up to 2x or 3x the dollar cost )
If i create a giveaway i should be able to decide if its gonna be for fewer people who really want the game and have been stockpiling points waiting for it, or open to as many people as possible to give everyone a (smaller) chance to get it.

I kind of like this. Let creators set a multiplier to the dollar amount, between 1x and 5x. A good way for creators to have some control over who gets the game - anybody who thinks they might like it, or just the people who really have been jonesin' for it.

Alot of people are missing the point of this, I am not saying increase the price to enter and generate more points I am saying exactly like this.
$50= 50 base points
take 5% of the base points
that 2.5 points (from 50 points) given to everyone
BUT THEN
take the 50 points and add a multiplier of 2 or 3
making the points to enter that raffle 100 or 150
For Distributing Points
$50=(50p X .05)=2.5p
For Spending Points
$50=(50p X 2)or(50p X 3) = 100p or 150p
points would be generated on the same level they are now, it would just cost more to enter than it does now.
get it?

the win rates will be the same, so why increase the "price" of entering a giveaway? its already enough having to have at least 50P to enter a AAA game like Deus Ex Human Revolution for example.....
On your way, you'd be making an indie game cost as much (considering 1P would be equivalent to 1USD) as a AAA game?
Not sure if following you...

As I have been seeing on a regular basis and reading as well there are still to many points and people are entering for raffles on games they don't even really want.
Now I am sure there is one extremely simple way to fix this.
Make the raffles cost more points to enter.
Have the points generate on the same level they are now for the users, 5% of the base game cost in standard points ,
but then double or triple the entry price (I.E. If the game is $50 then it is 50 points generating 2.5 points BUT the raffle entry cost is 100 points or 150 points).
This points system for entering will do two things then, it will increase the odds for people to win as there would be a lower amount of people entering at the cost of more their of points and with the price being higher to enter any raffle it would force people to consider, do I really want this game (like it is supposed to be)and only spend the points on games they would actually want to play.
