yeah, i figured that, but there is literally NO logical explanation to assume this. I mean, if it would be THIS easy to get every game you want, everyone would own every game out there. 1 second of thinking could spare us (and them) a lot of hassle. Is it really so hard to use your brain? :D (sorry, but I'm kind of in a rant right now. Ignorant people make me (a little) angry)

That is sexist, not all boys are like that and there are some girls like that....

Honestly I almost made a fake giveaway when I just entered this site because I was a bit confused how it worked, I thought I would request a gift and someone would give it to me, so of course I'd pick a high value game that I wanted to get. The site's name is slightly misleading that way, "gifts", I think it should be giveaways, lottery or raffles or something and while it's easy enough to just read the point of the site in the explanation, foreigners that don't have a very good grasp on English might just misinterpret it and rush to get free games.
Another reason I can think of is if someone doesn't have enough points for something, he might go and make a fake high point giveaway that will give him some points to spend or, alternatively, to store points in those giveaways to use for later.
There's always the occasional troll asshole who wants to annoy people with a fake giveaway, but yeah I'd assume that most people just misunderstand the concept of this site when they first come here or think they can cheat the system by making a fake giveaway. There are those that do it to abuse the site's flaws, but luckily the site requires to have a certain value of games on your account so you can't just make endless free accounts to use this site and troll it.

Secondary account I guess, it would be easy to use another account that you own or some friend's or something and just start a giveaway to get some points on your main account, this is what I assumed in my head when I was talking about that actually.

I would suggest a window that pops up when you try to make a giveaway with two buttons: Add key and It's a gift. Under it there should be a box with "I confirm that I own the game." People are stupid these days. You have to make everything as easy and visible as possible.
Or just ban the stupid people. It's easier.

You know actually, if GA's were marked that they were keys or gift items, it would make identifying fakes a little easier. A questionable GA that had no cd key and was marked gift item may more likely be fake and someone might want to use their points elsewhere in that case.

I've been around here for 9 months now and just recently started REALLY checking if giveaways are legit. So as everyone who does the same has probably noticed, there are a lot of fake giveaways (e.g. just registered, giving away high value games that they don't even own themselves).
When I find one of these giveaways I keep following after it ends to see if the game will get marked as received. Of course, most of them don't.
Now I know there's a lot of threads here warning about fake giveaways and so on, but I'm asking myself more and more: What is the point anyway? You don't get any CV for not received giveaways and I just can't believe so many people are too dumb to understand this site.
I mean I know not everyone reads the FAQ (though they probably should), but when you create a giveaway it's asking you to provide a key, chose who can enter etc.... So, if your english is good enough to navigate around the site, then it should be no problem at all to understand how this works.
I just refuse to believe they all just didn't know how this works, and it's bothering me more and more, so here's my question: Is there any benefit from making fake giveaways that i just missed? What do you think, why do people do this?
