is there really no daily/flash deal on steam winter sale? i feel like the deals are less interesting, wonder if steam would give some "extra" price cut on some titles

I don't understand. Isn't there simply a price you paid on your receipt? Why would daily/flash sales matter in any way?

Yes, no daily and flash deals :/

I'm not so sure that the deals are actually worse than normal though. Looking at the frontpage deals, they seem to be in line with what you would expect. You don't get the psychological effect that makes you impulse purchase and try to trick you into thinking that the deals are better than they actually are, based on a perceived scarcity anymore.

A few deals really are worse than used to be, but others aren't.

One great example: for the past 2 or 3 sales; CS:GO got only 50%. But it used to get 75% on Flash/Daily deals. Of course it's an irrelevant example, as it will always be one of the most sold game, no matter the discount.

I got Might and Magic Franchise pack in June for $24.99 and the winter sale has it for $49.99.
I'm disappointed in the winter sale for the most part, I'm actually glad they don't have daily sales just because I end up using my money and THEN they put out a really nice game I've wanted. But that's just my opinion.

CS:GO is an irrelevant example for another reason. Valve has stated that they won't give it deep discounts anymore due to the issues with cheaters they had when the game was 75% off. At that price, people would not care about getting their accounts suspended.

No it didn't. CSGO didn't went to -75% for many years because Community asked Valve to make hackers and smurfs pay more if they want to destroy community's fun.

I've never been a huge spender during these sales but I did want to pick up a few games. Rambo being one of them and it didn't even get any discount :(.

there are 10.000 discounted games right now, that's way more than we had on any other sale. not as fun as discovering each day which new crap games are on heavy discount, but it's easier to plan expenses in advance.

Well, thanks to Greenshit Valve added more games to Steam than in last years, so it's not a big surprise there are more games on sale.

It's okay. Maybe steam thinks that daily deals and "limited time" discount during a sale season does not increase sale. Users can grab any games they want at 50% off without being afraid it will go for 80% off the next day. Smoother server, less likely that a price glitch to occur during transition time. Less downtime means more purchase.

Probably because of the new refunds system, they don't want people refunding when they see it got more discounts during flash sales.

Well they could fix that easily... when you refund it you cannot re-buy it for 2 weeks

It's decent. I found two great games (Civilization Beyond Earth (which was on my wishlist) and Endless Legend) that were worth my money. But it is not the best sale I've seen on steam.

One thing I know for sure it's better, is the Tomb Raider Collection. I purchased it in June for 16€ thinking it wouldn't go any lower, and now costs 12€ with a nice -85%. I got a bit upset, but this morning I woke up and saw I won Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, so... XP
Have a nice Christmas

wasnt planning to pick up hundred of games anyway, not that my 10 euro of steam wallet would let me go on a shopping spree anyway XD
