A game with a far more limited audience, lacking interest from users on this website in general. Also, it's pretty expensive. Don't get me wrong, I love RTS, Age of Empires 2 being my favourite game of all time, but not everyone does. :D

Never played it, but a simple search for it on the store gave me an idea of what it is. It's an RTS, or if you like, 'Hearts of Iron IV is a war strategy video game developed and published by Paradox Interactive'. Therefore, my point is valid when saying that users on this site are generally far less interested in RTS/War Games, shown by the low percentage of giveaways for this genre in private groups (Public giveaways are not a clear representation). :)

HoI is no RTS, just because it isn't turn based. Its genre is called "Grand Strategy".
And it only isn't "popular" in form of giveaways, because those games are only few and they rarely appear in bundles. Several threads for Stellaris and the frequent appearance of Paradox fanboys, such a myself, suggest that we aren't as few here, as you seem to expect. :)

Yeah, I don't know about the fanbase for strategy games, i was just trying to point out that it's got nothing to do with AoE or really RTS.
It's Grand Strategy, which is closest to TBS i suppose (for reference).

It's a public secret that very few people are willing to pay full price for games to give away, unless full price is already dirt cheap. ($40 is not cheap.)
Wait until it gets a good sale and try your luck again. You may have to wait a while though, given that the game's only been out for 3 days.

Nah just an observation. I noticed there were 3 or 4 Warhammer giveaways earlier, so I thought it would be similar with HoI, but its not apparently?

Unfortunately, grand strategy isn't as popular as it should be. As someone who loves Total War games, they feel like child's play after you've tried Paradox's Grand Strategy.

I think now is the best time to try it for newcomers though. Stellaris and HoI4(From what i've seen) seem a lot more accessible and easier to learn. Maybe it will spurn new interest!

Those Total War: Warhammer giveaways were most probably made by people who got it with high end AMD graphic cards, and there were a couple sponsored by authorized retailers (the one by Gamesplanet has ended, while there's one by exosyphen/DailyIndieGame that's still running).
