hi, i have a very small trading account (~50 rep) and got an impersonator last week who is scamming people and getting me into trouble.

my steam account is set to private and i heard some people make theirs public for trading but i do not see how that would help if this scammer is just preying on people who lack the experience to follow the links through steamtrades and confirm the identity of who they trade with.

need advice on what else i could do here. thanks.

yes, already added a warning to my trades. it didn't help. this person did not bother reading or following the links to confirm they were trading with the same person. either that or this person and the scammer are one in the same. it could be some kind of elaborate scam, like that.

You might want to remove the link, as it's considered calling out and against the rules.

Check my steam profile picture.
That is the only thing that helps.

then why doesn't everyone have a picture like that?

Because not everyone is a victim of impersonating yet. Spreading the info is the only thing you can do.. Doesn't have to be the avatar, but the profile is the first thing people would check.

Well, that is their issue then. How do you want to warn them without even knowing them?

I have the highest rep on steamtrades and I've never been impersonated so it works.
And cause everyone really likes keeping their anime wifu as profile pic and are willing to risk their online reputation in the name of true love.

To avoid impersonators as much as possible, I've "watermarked" my profile picture with my Steam level (which I keep updated)l and profile address.
