This is absolute bullshit from Valve's side if you ask me. I'd love to hear how they justify everyone outside of Russia paying 5x as much... Seeing it as being greedy is wrong imo, if prices aren't fair to begin with.

Why is it bullshit from Valve? The publishers set the prices. Even then it's not very bullshitty if you think about it. If the games were priced all over the world like they are in Russia, they wouldn't be able to make a profit and make more games. If Russia had the same prices as we do in the west, Russian people wouldn't be able to buy games.

You can't honestly believe that Russian currency value converts to a 5th of what we have to pay in the west ?
Plus the fact that American/Eu based developers don't price their games in foreign currencies so it doesn't make sense to have such a massive inflation in prices.

Developers usually don't price their games at all, (if it's not indie of course).Publisher does, and it's ussally different publishers at different countries, and they are setting prices that will make best profit in country. you can't set too high price in Ruussia for a game, because most people will prefer to download it from torrents then, or won't play it, anyway publisher won't get anything. May be it is unfair but it's "just business".

Again, Developers are of course included in the pricing of games, as the main costs are not on the consumer side but lie in development processes, publishers are the middle men who aim to make a profit by selling on content provided to them (same concept as books).
Edit: Just saw you're Russian yourself which just signifies why you are able to give such an objective view on things.

So what you are going to count in immigrants and other people that get paid under the table and don't show up in statistics like that one ? Somehow I have a sneaking suspicion that people that are forced to work under such conditions don't really apply to the point being made here since THEY WON'T BUY GAMES anyway... Research>Think>Type

Do you wanna know why statistics lies? Average salary in my country is 3700(Currency doesn't matter). My mother's salary is 2000, mine 1600. Why? Because presidents of big companies etc are earning 100000 every month! And people who earn less than average salary are plenty. I don't have that much money, but I'm buying games, usually 1 in month. Research>Think>Type

Right, there is so many things that are silly about this post that I could write you an essay... here are the main 3, Number 1: your salary which considering you are from Poland and is 1600zloty which are around 380 euros which is a reasonable enough income. Number 2: your income is not "low" because business big-shots salary is higher, it has something to do with the education you have and path you've chosen in life. Number 3: Because "plenty people" earn less than average doesn't mean it influences statistics, where I live in Ireland there is unemployment everywhere and I still have to pay the same price as everyone else, so I don't understand why other nationalities should get advantages ! End of argument, cya

Offering extremely different prices to different countries is ridiculous, these are video games, if you were arguing food prices based on wages it would be one thing, but that isn't what is happening here. No matter what way you try to spin it, in the end it is bullshit.

I don't understand how anyone could call it fair in any way, shape or form lol

I'm not arguing, I'm just explaining why. Basically the idea is "small profit > no profit".
I agree that it doesn't make sense to the individual, that a game can be bought cheaper just because you are situated on other side of some border. But for Valve and other publishers it makes perfect sense because of money.
But Steam is overpriced for EU. Boxed copies are usually cheaper, even for brand new games. That doesn't make sense.

It isn't about morality, you just won't sell much games there with high price, may be it is a problem of too small salaries, may be it is a problem of too high piracy, but to sell PC game there you need to set a small price. It is fact, it isn't just a someone idea.

Piracy isn't a problem under which the market prices should suffer. The responsibility of dealing with these issues lie with valve and not our wallets, and just to prevent myself from having to comment on your comment below: "Prices shouldn't be fair" is the same thing as saying " The same laws shouldn't be applicable to everyone" which is this.
