have you ever played with... domains?
That comment looks lonely without any gibs under it.

The catch is it's a dirt cheap plan on a shared host, albeit one that I've used for years on various sites with no issues. Regardless of who you you're hosting with though, you should always backup your stuff regularly.

I got a domain, a server and ideas. Is there any giveaway of free time I can join? :P
Jokes aside I like the idea and I hope something cool comes out of this. Have a bump!

that name could actually fit the idea i have. in fact, they've added so many TLDs since i first thought of it i'll have to consider those instead of just trying for .net

Just slam a large YES in bold lettering on a website and leave it be

i have an idea and the skills to build it but not the time currently. also already have a hosting account with room for it so would only need a domain, and of course the time.
i like this idea though! hope someone with an idea and time can make something cool!

Whoa, this sounds extremely nice and fun.
I've been willing to get a domain for a while, but it's nothing too interesting - Just so I could have a small personal website and an easy-to-remember address for any game servers i host.
Thanks for doing this, I love the idea :)

Your post has reawakened something I have pondered, from time to time. Various people who know me (in real life or otherwise) and are familiar with my writing and counseling services have encouraged me to create my own website. Their idea is for me to present my stories, poems, essays, and advice to the internet. They believe it would entertaining and beneficial to the public. That may or may not be true, but there is no doubt that I would have to give up my near-anonymity in the process. Thus far, I have managed to keep much of my work (mostly) hidden from the Internet, and I prefer to avoid "the spotlight" as much as possible. The only reason I have even considered the idea of a blog/website is the clamor from those whom I have helped and inspired and their insistence that I should "share" my work with others.
I get a lot of satisfaction out of helping others, so that argument is fairly persuasive.
Creating a blog/website is not something I have the knowledge for, however, so I wouldn't even know how to go about it. I suppose creating a domain would be a good place to start. (It seems "realitycheck.com" is already "taken," albeit not actually being used.) Would anyone be willing to teach me "how it's done?" There's a chance I might actually follow through with it if I know how to do so.

first things first: this is -also- for you. like, very for you.
and, as you are our Mod: this thread comes cause of last phishing attack thread. and inspired by xara t-shirt giveaway. Sharing knowledge means giving a -further- chance to someone. a tad like sharing a key for game... :D
the big difficulty, tho, relies on the way you share that knowledge, the language you use, ... so what you see is just my try at -first- inspiring and -then- help others to express themselves.
two days ago was nearly asking you "why don't you keep on sharing quotes?", but, again, as you're a Mod, maybe, you already have enough work to do, here around... so, this is for you.
check the dummy giveaway. the second domain is the "final result", what you're asking: a place (its address being the www.domain.ext) where you can express/share/etc.
what you'll see, in your browser, is an http address and some content (the actual text, images...). what i've done is
when you go to the nice domain (2), you actually go to the first. kind of a cosmetic trick!
also: what may look overly complicated stuff, is just jargon you might want to learn... or not. meaning: there's no need -at all- for you to learn HTML code, or how things really work behind the scenes. you should use that time to actually express/share/etc, so todo the things.
you're, Khalaq, five minutes away from that. and you'll help me (if you want) to achieve that: make it straightforward cause, hey, we're handling huge amounts of keys, here... not becoming the next very very vintage blogstar!
what i think is kinda mandatory is to keep and make all this (just like we're doing) public, so that every one of use can contribute, take inspiration from, learn something...
i'm also very very, like... VERY glad of this comment of yours. just give me a little more time to think about something "easier" (hoping someone else would jump in... but that will surely happen... -thanks again Andrewski!-)
stay tuned. like... very tuned.
thank you, Khalaq. that was unexpected and it's hugely appreciated, here (and maybe elsewhere)
have a good rocking one, peeps!
edit: my idea is to make you actually write something, first. so to see how simple and fast this could be..

What I'd suggest is starting a blog on a blogging platform. Here's mine at Wordpress.com. I had my own website for a while, but that requires maintenance. I didn't keep it up to date, security-wise, and the site got hacked and defaced. Another time my hosting service deleted the content by mistake. So I moved to Wordpress.com. A lot less flexible but it's fine for the purpose of just posting stuff.
Whether you keep your anonymity would depend on what you post. Just having a public platform doesn't automatically make you lose anonymity. It's not much different than participation in an online forum.

Every Master Plan starts with a Master Boot Record.-
Anyway, I think that Wordpress.com is a good thing if you ever want to move out eventually to a real hosted site, because Wordpress is one of the most common platforms for websites (not necessarily the best, but it's easy to use for small sites).

Random idea: a site called shouldibuythat.game / shouldibuythatga.me where you can enter the title of a game and it would answer if you should get it or not, but it actually always answers you in an unconclusive, vague or useless way. There could also be specific answers for some popular games, just as useless tho. I was thinking it could be used as a joke for when sales happen and the threads asking "should I get x" start poping up.

I used to have a bunch of domains, but pared that down, because I don't actually use them. I still keep a few (3, I think), like lownedia.com, which points to my blog, just in case I'd want to use them more seriously one day. Still, not much of a backlog. :)

https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/mFIBJ/
This War of Mine (sponsored by Vee)
expiring very very soon: lavespa.win (expires 1st March, so 's kinda throw away... no use, if not for tests)

in case you've got an idea, a good one, one that peeps (we, the sgifters) seems to appreciate, you might ask to enter this domain giveaway.
should work like this:
i'll help the winner, if needed, to configure his just won domain so to use it right away (i.e. a blog, email redirects, ...) mostly by linking easy help pages and sum screenshots (<---llllazy).
i'll put a kind of dummy giveaway for more technical stuff and / or links i won't put here (no referrals, of any sort, just kinda commercial)
i'll leave this open, while adding and fixing and... please share your thoughts, if want / need / wish.
thanks a ton for that, also.
first domain already registered (very very fresh one) and available, if you like the sound, is...
spacecat dot club
