Except the combat is terrible. By that, I mean it is the human doing the fighting, and a child at that. Everything is low energy. You are also not controlling Reg in boss battles.

Worse... by a massive margin, Goblin Slayers scene is child play in comparison... To note at least for what is animated there isn't any rape(or sex) scenes in MiA.
Potentially worse than everything that happens in Berserk(I would need to finish the Manga to say so,,, and everytime I consider reading further I get depressed since I know the author has passed)
to note... for Goblin Slayer... it doesn't go anywhere near that far after ep1, they really wanted to show how fd up the goblins in that world are.

Just read the first chapter of goblin slayer and i think it is worse by a large margin. It is an emotional rollercoaster at times with the uncertainty and adventure. Goblin slayer just look like a hentai manga in disguise from that first chapter.

Made in Abyss is one of those works... where while its amazing(easily in the top 5 of my favorite animes)... the stuff it gets into makes it so hard to recommend to anyone without knowing if they can deal with it. I have simultaneously told people its one of my 11/10s... but to not watch it in the same sentence many times.
