Is it intentional to not list games in a user's profile under giveaways for those who create group and/or private giveaways?

The reason I ask is because a user entered my FEAR3 giveaway, and when viewing his profile no gifts are listed under giveaways, yet his profile shows he's given over $372 in received giveaways. I assume his giveaways were given to a private group to which he belongs, and through private giveaway links. His win-to-entry ratio is high, apparently due to the group he belongs to having a small roster of members with regular giveaways.

I suppose someone who belongs to a private group could have a secondary Steam account that is also a member of the group, and create private or very short-term group giveaways for which his main can win as the only entry, in order to boost his contributor status.

To be clear, I'm not accusing or calling shenanigans on this person. I just want to clarify for myself the what and how of such a situation, and to inform myself of any possible 'gaming' of the system so as to be wary in the future. I'd hate to see people abusing this site more than it is, already.

If there is only 1 entry it doesn't count towards contributer value from what I remember.

Private giveaways will not be listed.

However, group giveaways will be listed IF you're one of the member of the specified group.

Actually, you need 2 entries in a giveaway to earn contribution values. So, he would need to have 3 Steam accounts. Or you can just find 2 other friends that want to do the same.

Okay, that sort of requirement seems reasonable then. One would have to go to a lot of work and a bit of money to have three Steam accounts with $100 worth of games in order to boost the main account. I wish this info was listed in the FAQ somewhere, or else my searching skills have grown shabby :/

I think I know who you mean, and I assure you, he's a legit user.

Good to hear, and again I didn't want to make the impression that I was calling him out or anything, but it raised some questions for me that I had yet to consider since becoming an active user here.

Gonna close this thread as I've gotten all the info I need. Thanks again!
