No, I thought it might have been orcs and men as well, but that one you play as an orc..the one I played I was a human, I'm not sure if you could pick a race or not, but you could at least play a human...it might be one of the gothic games...I'll look into that..thanks! :D

I cannot answer your question, but I can tell you what it is not: Bayou Billy

My friend and I didn't get it. Was too hard for us.
Honestly I remember Bayou Billy because of the synthesized voice that said, "Bayou Billy!" My friend and I laughed and laughed and laughed at it, and mocked it.
Otherwise I wouldn't remember it.

My guess is Two World II

Yeah, it is. Its more of an adventure in an open world. Problem its like those movies that are different but share a lot of stuff and they came out at the same time... Like Sunshine and Mars or... Or a lot more.
The big problem of Two Worlds 2 was to be launch on the same time that Skyrim. Well, that, and how the guy runs.

It came out a year (almost exactly) before Skyrim.

I played it 6 months ago and I liked it a lot. Before one starts a playthrough one should know that an update was announced: http://steamcommunity.com/games/7520/announcements/detail/857181154222642199

Oh wow, had no idea. Guess I'll wait for the update before I get back to that game.
I don't like that they're adding more DLC's though, and I really don't like that they're going to kill Dar Pha in one of them and how they spoiled that in the announcement.

I see people beat me to it. TW2 is quite an underrated game. I stopped playing it due to combat system being a bit awkward though. Might get back to it sooner or later anyway.
It's funny how horrible it looks with bloom maxed out. I usually don't like bloom in games but this one really went nuts with it lol.

I noticed the game got a lot of hate due to its DRM. While I do think the DRM they went with is annoying and should have been removed for the steam version I didn't really mind it that much. It's quick to activate and then you just forget about it and enjoy the game.

I might not have played the game the elder scrolls ripped off, I only started getting into RPGs around the release of Morrowind(Then went back and fiddled with arena and daggerfall)...Before that I was mainly into FPS type games. What game did Elder Scrolls rip-off? :O I might wanna check it out.

They took many of the gameplay elements of Ultima Underworld, then the contents of a D&D module, changed the names around a bit and separated the one big dungeon to several small ones, and that was it.
Later they expanded upon the lore in a similar way Blizzard did with WarCraft and Diablo (both were just copying WarHammer and D&D derivate modules—I am always unsure which one was that apocalyptic D&D type that Diablo took most of its influence, e.g., pretty much the entire story, from—respectiely), but funny enough the gameplay remained mostly the same. Enough so that at one point there was even a rumour that the owner may try to bring back Ultima Underworld for a third game, now riding the success of Elder Scrolls. :)

i'll have to look into that..I never the underworld games...I did try an ultima game.....had pagan in the title, and I kinda got bored quick of it, so anytime i saw a game that said Ultima, I stayed away....definitely gotta check out underworld now though :D Thanks for the heads up.

Ultima games need you to be really old or a cRPG player enough to appreciate their game play. They rely a ton of the player actually role-playing and keeping notes, they are not like Elder Scrolls, where your task pretty much can be summed up as "wander around and kill shit", since you either bump into or complete a quest by killing random things and looting stuff.
Underworlds were the lightweight versions, typical dungeon crawlers, like most any RPG games in the 70s and 80s, where you had one large-ass dungeon, and you had to fight your way to the end of it.
By the way, you are likely referring to Ultima VIII, which was a broken mess of a crapfest.
Also, if you are interested a bit, the internet personality known as Spoony did a restrospective video series on them in short videos, shortly summing them up one by one.

Found my old comment :
I highly recommend you to try Two Worlds II and maybe the Two Worlds - Epic Edition( I haven't played the first part yet)
Two Worlds II is one of the best RPGs I've played - there are so many interesting features in it :

Several years ago, I started an RPG and never got far into it, and was wanting to play it again...but for the life of me i can't remember what it was called...I can't even remember if it was a console game, or a PC game, though I am fairly certain it was a PC game. I'll tell you what I remember, and maybe you can help me figure out what it was.
The game was a third person RPG, and at the time I remember thinking that it felt a lot like an Elder Scrolls rip off....The game starts in a stone prison, and some orcs break in and help you escape..after you escape you are on a grassy hill, and the orc you are with is instructing you on stealth kills, and you gotta fight your way through..I believe they are goblins..Til you get to an orc camp. From there you are guided to an orc town, which is in a cave, and you can learn how to craft weapons...
I think there might be a scene with an orc wizard who causes stones to float up and repair a stone bridge..
That's all I played of it, does any of this sound at all familiar to anyone? :/
