So many games I could have given away if it weren't for those meddling video game corporations

Well maybe if people actually buy games they play there shouldn't be any problems.

It just happens, we all have games we haven't played or installed. FUCKING STEAM SALES ARE SO IRRESISTIBLE!

Why not buy as gift copy & activate only when you play?

Or here's an idea ... don't buy a game unless you intend to play it.

So I'm imagining someone that buys everything (not just games on steam, but everything) as a gift.
All pre-wrapped in a non-descript wrapping paper etc.

Now whenever you choose to wear the clothes or use the item, you end up unwrapping the gift. So its like a little celebration all on its own.
And whenever christmas or any equivalent 'gifting' celebration comes around you go through your storage location and pick out some of the gifts that have been standing there for over a year unused. And those will be the things you hand out that year!

-

And that seems to be the mentality that people subscribe to when they say you should buy everything as gift.
Having a storage container filled with stuff that you may or may not want to use but bought because....?

Thanks for getting my point. It's silly that we need to have everything as a gift. That's just tedious and unnecessary.

Pretty much what I do with games that I am on the edge with.
I ended up buying Skyrim, but never got around to playing, so made a GA.

My backlog, however, remains a monstrous mess. This is mostly from trading, however (my main method of acquiring games) - I get game keys that can't be saved as a gift, so I activate them immediately.

Also, if you haven't downloaded or installed them it's not like anyone is losing money. You still paid for it and the company already has their money. There'd be no difference if it was bought as a gift.

During one sale I was buying everything as a gift copy, and only activating them later. Then I got burned buying this which appeared as unowned in the store. The gift wouldn't activate because I already owned it as this. :( Every time that thing is on sale, I have to remember not to buy it. :)
