Well, as long as all of the other parts are working fine then you should be able to afford it. :)

Are the nephew's parents going to help cover the cost, since it was their kid that broke it?

My response to that would be to have my kid smash their TV/whatever they really love. "Boys will be boys, after all." Nah, they'd probably just throw a bitch fit and get the cops involved knowing my family. Still, though, I'm pretty sure that, if the damage was severe enough and you push it enough, you might be able to make a legal case out of it and make it stick. I'm so very tempted to try that one day.
That said, I am aware accidents happen. When I was young, I remember nearly making a TV drop six feet to the ground after I tripped up on a cable. I was so very lucky it did not shatter.

How old is he? If he's under 5, it's extremely unlikely that he will remember any abuse for more than a month or so.
Just sayin.

Well i hope the parents take some responsability for it, at least giving you some money to help pay for another motherboard would be nice.
If that's not the case, you can always kill the nephew and when they ask what happened you can always reply "oh well, i tried sitting on it :D"
Good luck with that!!!

Unless there's a short circuit or a spark...
I'd practice before attempting.

lol.. Have you guys ever seen a motherboard? First off all, short circuits or sparks have nothing to do with it.. Standard psu voltages range from -12 to +12.. That puts max motherboard voltage to 24dc.. That cant kill a frog.. If hes working on powered up system for strange reason, only danger is for motherboard itself (which is already deceased).. Second, due to the low voltage, conductors are very thin, and very dense (and layered!), which makes them hard to even see without 500+$ worth of equipment.. not to mention work something on it.. And if motherboard broke where i think it might broke (in the cpu area due to cooler weight), it makes things exponentialy worse..

I was talking about the mobo post-soldering. If the person decided to OD on solder and leave blobs of solder on a circuit.
That is, if someone is crazy enough to solder a motherboard as badly damaged as the circuit from the video.

That sucks. Hopefully the parents are responsible and pay for the damages.

There is no way a motherboard would crack from a fall while properly attached inside of a tower. I could throw my case off of my apartment building and it would work I bet. Even if you had a Noctua D14 or Silver Arrow attached I find that highly unlikely.

Punch your baby nephew straight to the face. Strong enough to tilt the tyke's head back but not strong enough to make the nose bleed.

So my baby nephew decided it would be a great idea to have a seat and literally push my tower off of my desk. This, combined with more abuse, caused a severe break in the motherboard. The PSU is also pretty much dead since I can't get it to start. Using my dad's laptop to post this.
Not that it matters, but I'm gonna be out for a while. Hoping my income tax return is enough to get myself a new rig.
Update: Looking into prices on a complete solution, a DIY kit more or less. While a large case would be best (as I plan to upgrade continously over time) it's not necessary. Please feel free to link me to parts, but I'm trying to keep my system build below 700 (800 if you include OS) with moderate performance. Enough to run some of the newer games.
As an example, this kit.
I do NOT want micro. Even though that system is apparently a micto atx.
