I use the SG Enhancement add-on. I never see The Ship nor DOTA2 giveaways. It's very easy to install, and you'll never be bothered by them again.

This has worked for me greatly. I didn't even notice that there was a flood of The Ship or DOTA 2 giveaways until the forums where flooded with people give out. Strongly recommend getting the add-on. :-)

Dota 2 isn't free and watch your langauge.

What would this new rule be, exactly? "Thou shalt not give away extra copies of a game you have"? Or maybe "You may only give something away if you've paid full price for it"?

People are still entering these giveaways, so clearly there's a place for them to exist. If you're not interested, then by all means, to quote your post, "please just stfu and gtfo".

If there are people exploiting, then punish those people. You don't make massive changes to site policy that will outlaw legitimate giveaways just to stop a few exploiters.

If someone gets a game for free, legitimately, and then gives it away, why do you care that they got it for free? Be grateful that they decided to pass it on, and stop looking gift horses in the mouth.

Why not just put the "bundle" tag on Dota 2 and the Ship?

Free Frozen Synapses for buying Frozen Synapse should be banned in your opinion,too....free games won on the sales or on other occasions... The difference: Dota was only given 1 copy to those who already have it. Shadowgrounds was no restrictions at all. One person could get 100 hundred keys without having the game at all. Valley without wind was a keygen. Other exploited keys were taken from pages and you could get masses,too,without owning the game. Dota beta isnt like other betas,too. You can buy Dota on steam. Dota was initially tied to your account or won as a token directly from steam. Other betas spam keys on different sites that are quickly taken (or used up by some guys that take way more than one key for themself). Those keys are not tied to your account,they dont cost anything and ppl won't get the full game after that.

Besides...dota has been added to bundle games to stop exploitation by giving away loads of them.

I think the problems (either 300P cap and flooding) would be solved if:

• The Ship -> 5P or 1P.
• Dota 2 -> 5P

and this doesn't require any rule change.

This is not about free games, it is all about the OP being scared of "winning" less games because others can enter contributor giveaways he wanted to hog for himself.

Contributor giveaways are nothing more than public giveaways and only if you get into the higher tiers of contributing(which you will most likely never get with "free" stuff) your "chances" really make a difference.

Stop believing that the contribution system is the alpha and omega and instead get active in the community.
