Is trading with a user who pays via Paypal safe?
Are there any known scams?
Can the user revoke the money somehow?

Sure, chargebacks. Paypal is unsafe.. check the guy you're trading with on steamrep and sg profile :)

Thx. Is there a time period after which chargebacks can't take place?

"Charge back can be initiated up to 45 days from the date of transaction for payments from cash balance
and 180 days for payments done using CC [credit card] funds."

^ that's about it - so better watch out and don't accept paypal for anything you're unwilling to risk
^ only evidence that might help in a chargeback case are insured postage/delivery-receipts

(piece of advice for anyone using paypal - don't sell any "non physical items" and
items without insured delivery on EBAY, that place is literally a cesspool of scammers)

I wanna know too, if someone wants to trade keys or games for paypal, what's the best way to stay safe? If I record every transaction, could I use the video as proof if they try to tell paypal I scammed them?

My conclusion is, don't do it, unless you trust the buyer.

If you search the internet for "paypal how to avoid chargebacks", you'll see how messy it can get. I just don't think it's worth it for anyone using trading sites.

Paypal is essentially 'seller beware'.
Bitcoin is more, 'buyer beware'.

I'd suggest looking into Bitcoin instead, though you'll find fewer people prepared to buy from you, you won't be charged back.

Yeah but I don't know anything about it though, how will I turn the bitcoin to real money after that? Sounds like a hassle

I'm not a good person to ask for advice on that, because I don't have experience in it.
Though, I'm already conviced that it's much safer for the seller in a Steam trade.
There are a number of ways to sell the bitcoins for local currency and they seem straight foward.
Bitcoin itself is susceptible to scams like hacking and phishing.
I don't have much more information on it at the moment.
You'd be better off finding out about it on the internet.

I'm not worries about being hacked or whatever, that usually happens when you do dumb things which I tend to not do. I'll check it out.

Thanks for your quick responses guys. Some "trader" was trying to rush me into accepting Paypal for some stuff. It was obviously a scam. One look at his steamrep was enough.

I'm sorry to hear that there are many scammers, because I've paid with Paypal over half of my trading record. :(

Trading through paypal isn't exactly safe no. But I've seen some users ask people to put something in the description like "I understand that this is a digital good and I agree not to ask my money back" (this is just a quickly made sentence, the people that do it construct it better). I guess that could help you if they do want to get their money back, but I wouldn't count on it.

i used to trade a lot, until like 2 weeks ago now im taking a break from trading for a month until more people get their authenticator thingy set up.

i do accept paypal trades, but only from people with some decent rep, because paypal really doesnt protect sellers at all. For all i know someone could buy $50 worth of games from me and ask for chargeback because of... turtles. and paypal will give them their money back, no questions asked. Because buyers are cool and selllers are not. or whatever :P
