What does not received affect you?

Like the topic said, I created two giveaway of Witcher 3 and didn’t know they were region restricted since it’s the first time I had such problem, Luckily the first winner had no issue and got his gift. Eh, the second winner couldn’t receive my gift because of region difference, so he was disappointed and then got mad at me because I wouldn’t buy another ROW Witcher 3 on G2A. Well, the harm is been done and I got no received of my giveaway, just want to ask if there is any penalties you suffer from it or it’s just something really brothers completist like I did?

  • You learn to take the new Steam gifting system into consideration.
  • You learn to never fucking use G2A, ever.
  • You have one giveaway slot removed and will need three new received giveaways to get it back.
  • Some people looking at your profile will think you were doing a fake giveaway for whatever reason (there are plenty of potential reasons people keep doing it) and blacklist you.

By the way, the ROW version is also discounted now on DLGamer and GamesPlanet.

it doesnt matter if they are discounted somewhere else because they only ever offer GOG keys and not steam keys

You know what the funny thing is? It is like the third time I am told that, but I am so unused to see GOG keys sold anywhere but GOG as their gifting system, my mind just refuses to register it.

No, the problem was I moved to China from Canada, so I didn’t realize China got region locked

By the way, the ROW version is also discounted now on DLGamer and GamesPlanet.

That won't help him fix the not received if they only activate on GOG, though. (Unless the winner doesn't mind a "non-activated" win penalty). Actually, I think the only way to get a Steam version is from the Steam store itself (correct me if I'm wrong).

To promotetheir bullshit youtube or twitch channels mostly :) Do a flashy long triple A giveaway with links inside and then well..dont deliver because all you wanted was clicks.

Yep, to promote some bullshit. YT channel, CS:GO scam operation, their latest card-farming only "game" scam on Steam, or any combination of the above. We have entire Steam groups dedicated to do such promotions.

I doubt u would like to delete the giveaway, as it will totally delete the whole giveaway(even if you have 1 receive, it will also be removed)

Idk. It's one thing to receive a gift and another to demand one. If I didn't get my "won" game, yeah sure, I'd be upset but not angry.
Gotta live barefoot. What happened already happened and whatever penalties are incured will be done. Just keep on giving.

Nah no penalty apart from the -1 slot I guess. In the 2 GAs I never received, the creators didn't try much to fix it (one of them didn't even reply to any of my attempts to contact him).

Unless you had any proven malicious intent/reason not to deliver (to a particular person), there will never be any additional penalties. The system heavily favours the rights of the giveaway creator (as it should, in most cases, since he/she's the one bearing the expenses).
