Well I mean, things happen, just not to progress the story and characters that much. It's a fun watch, and I assume it'd be a fun read. It's just a comical harem romp which is fine, but gets a bit frustrating at times when you think the relationships between the people will advance a little, and it gives you a little and then takes it all back a lot of the time lol. I'd still say go ahead and read it :).

Hm, to be fair. The games have not been rigged. They have exploits the contestants can use but not the administration. They said in the second game that whoever finds the administration cheating or rigging the game will get a lot of money. Also they never stated what will happen with the losers. Death was surely never an option although the alternatives can be worse than death.
The final was kind of anticlimatic although befitting to a certain degree. Had some slight problems understanding Yokoya's end game decision.
