my point was a translation only for the site buttons, info texts and mostly the FAQ

That's actually a fair point, translating FAQ/Guidelines to other languages wouldn't hurt in long-run, there is even Russian translations already from what I've seen, still, I wouldn't vouch for translating anything but this, and even that is somehow problematic.
Say your guy X who doesn't know English wins a game, but there is some problem with a key and he needs to contact giveaway creator, who of course doesn't speak native language of X. How do you deal with this? Giveaway creator now has a hassle of understanding what is going on, and how to help that poor guy, instead of appreciating his generosity and NOT creating him extra problems.
I mean, it's a long-term consequence of this, not really a cause, but still I'd prefer if everybody registered on SG could at least barely communicate in English, and I doubt that you need ANYTHING but most basic English to use this site.

Do you know that Switzerland, Sweden and many other Countries were "third world" too? It's a cold war term therefore a stupid thing. There are not first, second and third worlds, there are places where more rich people live and places where more poor people live to make the rich people richer.

In the same wikipedia page about the "third world term" is written: "The terms utilized when discussing developing countries refer to the intent and to the constructs of those who utilize these terms. " And "commonly" never means correct, right or fair. The term is used in a wrong way like as an ordinal number in a ranking position, to express superiority and inferiority, this is an evil and ignorant use of the term.

It is difficult to write briefly about a subject so complex. My words were misinterpreted if you think I have been personally triggered. I am from a so called "first world" country, but I know Brazil very well, I also have been to Romania and many other countries, but that is not important. What does it mean to be a first world country, or second or third? Brazilian education, including the University is free, no fees, the public health system provides medical examinations and medicines free of charge to all, including foreigners. Education and public health are the main pillars of what should be the definition of a developed country. Does it work perfectly? No, because there are few resources, but definitely better than in many countries of the first world where almost everything is now private and to be paid. Some poor countries still think about the poor people, often forgotten in the rich countries. Poor countries are often rich in resources, but these resources are often stolen or swindled by rich countries. But that's another topic too complex to be dealt with in a few lines. I'm criticizing the use of terms such as "first" and "third world", because they unconsciously create a wrong perception of the world that people do not know and from this idea derive many false assumptions. I was not attacking you, my anger is directed only towards this misleading label that is used too often.

Jokes aside, only recently English became the mandatory first foreign language to study at school, previously there was a choice between it and French, and most people naturally chose French, as it's easier to learn since it's another romance language (not for me, for some reason...).
And back to jokes (sadly, not too much of a joke), there're many Italians who can't even speak proper Italian, because they mostly speak their regional dialects instead (especially in southern regions).

In northern regions, they don't have time to speak, they're too busy working.

You'd be surprised to see apparently how many South-East Asians use the site with almost zero English language skills. Making some interactions and chasing unresponsive winners a rather… challenging task.

You don't need to have a support with 189 languages support, if the FAQ is something that you can actually read. This will sound dumb, but many users are asking if you should have a copy to actually make a giveaway. And having a simple welcome text to show how things work should bring new users, and avoid scammers.

Nie wspominając już o dalszym niepotrzebnym dzieleniu społeczności. W momencie wprowadzenia dajmy na to języka Polskiego, 99% polskiej cebuli jeszcze bardziej by się ograniczyło tylko do tego barbarzyńskiego języka całkowicie ignorując (w wersji optymistycznej) tudzież antagonizując (w wersji realistycznej) całą społeczność anglojęzyczną czy też wgl niepolskojęzyczną.

The multiple language version was one of the things debated during SGv2 beta period - we even had myultiple languages translations of FAQ and UI as well. But in the end cg decided to drop the idea - reason being, if site is supportged in language XYZ it should also be able to provide support in said language. As we're lacking on Support anyway and not to mention support not speaking all the languages proposed - it's not going to happen until said language that was to be implemented to the site would have enough support members to provide support work for it. In current support situation it means no language beside english on SG.

I wouldn't mind helping out with czech language in my free time, but I don't think that there're things that are hard to understand, like with a little help of google translator anyone should understand the important stuff on this website

I feel like the internet is a place where it's common to read/speak/type English. Just because it's such a widespread language. So in my opinion, by visiting an international website you "agree" to communicating in English here. That's why I have no problem with a site being available in English only.
On the other hand, I can fully understand people who are able to speak and read basic English, but struggle when it comes to more complex issues (like FAQs or technical support e.g.), and thus want the site to be available in their native tongue.
I don't think it has to be a "must", but it would sure be a nice gesture.

Adding other languages would make a huge mess I believe, in a way or another.
SG as it is now is good, and as other members said, if you don't understand English then learn it, and you can always use a translator.

i think the main problem is people can't even bother reading the rules no matter the language they are written.
also, if i don't speak chinese/russian/polish, i wouldn't even try going to a giveaway site in that language, especially if i won't put extra effort to understand how it works.

Humans are lazy by nature. Ofc it's not a sin it's a survival mechanism but still i feel that translation of crucial content encourages ignorance and i have a very acute aversion towards such behaviour even if it happens with best intentions in mind.
English is not my mother tongue but i somehow manage to get by. And my first REAL steps in acquiring okeish command of English were made when i was forced to play original version of Baldur's Gate II since no localisation was available at that time.

English and Russian are the most common languages used on the internet, and both are represented in the FAQ so it should be fine. It does need a rewrite (at least the English one does) to make certain points more clear, but we would be getting diminishing returns with every language added.
Translation, when done properly/professionally, is hard and slow work and I don't see the benefit of having more language options available when not even the English/RU speaking peeps don't bother reading the damn thing -.-.

To be fair: right now I don't see what the point would be for this extra workload with no real positive value for doing it.
Basic English should suffice (because really: who can't be bothered to learn even the basics on the internet or in gaming where English is still the dominant language). Russian is already taken into account. And importantly: the problem of people who know English not reading the FAQ and such would need to be tackled first before starting to think about other languages.

Yours is actually a great suggestion, but... it would be pointless to implement.
Why? Because the people for whom this feature would be created, probably wouldn't bother reading anyway.
The site doesn't need a translation, it's so basic it's quite easy to understand.
Regarding the FAQ/guidelines... we have a Russian version already, and it doesn't seem to be used too much, if you get what I mean.
If else, as suggested many times, the original English version needs a rewording, especially on certain parts (like regifting and reroll requests).

I'm totally fine with english, I can actually understand it fine. But a lot of (new) users seems a bit lost with the lack of other languages, and new flags should bring new members, and even maybe encourage some people to
chat in their native language.Again, the actual point is translate the website text, like the FAQ or warning texts. Important stuff.
