Does Dark Souls: Prepare to Die really need a controller to play or has anyone uploaded a "fix" to use k/b and mouse?
Is this game worth "fixing", other issues than k/b mouse, to play with k/b and mouse?
What controller is recommended to use?
Any extra tips and fixes you know of would be helpful.
Links to fixes also please.
Thanks in advance.

any Xbox 360 controller, the Microsoft one for example. It doesn't matter if it's from Logitech, Thrustmaster, Microsoft, they use native Windows drivers, also an Xbox One controller will be the best but it expensive like double price.

Price range 20-35€ for Xbox 360 controller, and 50€ for Xbox One.

I have this image it has the LB, LT, RB, RT requires more force to press than on the Microsoft controller, and stick is not really accurate, don't knwo how is the stick in others, but I don't really care because I doesn't matter if you're not playing FPS games with it, I recommend you getting the Microsoft one. Controller is very useful thing, you should get one.

There is a kb/mouse fix out there that works and I believe there is another fix out there to get the frame rate up above the locked 30fps.

I never played with kb/m without the fix but with it, it's playable... But it's not superb, it feels very 'clunky' and the UI is freaking massive.

Mostly you need the dsfix I think there is another mod that fixs controls for mouse and keyboard so maybe search the nexus site for that

DS fix, DSM fix, and DSC fix all make the game much better on PC. They should come up on Google.

You can use any controller pretty much and then use an xbox controller emulator like "xbox 360ce." I've used a PS2 controller with no problems.

You should get an Xbox 360 controller before trying to play this game, about the issues the others already explained everything.

Just a question to people who already played the game before, is there any way to farm Boss drops?

You need to use DSFix 2.2 + unofficially updated DSMFix. Check out readmes how to install both of them properly

IMPORTANT! BEFORE INSTALLING DSFIX !!!!!!!TURN OFF!!!!! ANTIALIASING IN THE GAME!

Even without the fixes you can play the game with mouse + keyboard, but with DSMFix mouse movement get very smooth, while without it in vanilla it's very jerky.

All you need is to memorize the following - it's PC controls for Dark Souls. Or you can print it out - believe me, you'll need it.

Controller warmly recommended, and what others have said.. Be ready to spend time messing with the dsfix settings, atleast for me it took long before I got everything worked out. But in the end, it all is totally worth it. My most played game so far.
