Hey, guys and gals. I hope you're all well?

My question is a ridiculously simple one and, I apologise, has probably been asked many millions of times but there is no answer to it on the forum or in the FAQ.
Why is there not a list of games which are considered banned? I have very few games to offer, so would like to know which are suitable for a giveaway here and which aren't. I did a search in the forum and, while there are 13 topics that show up when searching for "banned games" (without the speech marks) none of them answer my question. I looked in the FAQ but couldn't find answers there, either. Would it really be so bad if the users, especially new ones. had access to that information?

For example, I remember not long back there was an Anomaly game that was given away free from somewhere (can't remember the details, I'm old :P) but can't, for the life of me, think which one it was. I recall the feed getting spammed six ways from Sunday most of the day but specific details are gone from my memory.

Surely a list of banned games would be a good idea? I'm 110% positive this won't be the first time this has been brought up, but it would doubtlessly help for, A. we'll then have it in black and white which games are allowed and which aren't and we can create our giveaways around that, and B. The staff won't have to keep coming back time and time again to delete the same, offending giveaways over and over and over and over and......well, you get it.

I'm not sure if by banned you mean the games from that part of the FAQ, or you mean bundled games... Which can be found on the bundle list.
[EDIT] Nevermind, just understood what you meant... Damn, too tired to think straight. Good night. >_<

I did not know about the Bundle List, so thank you for that. That's basically the type of thing I was suggesting but instead of Bundle order, in alphabetical order

Why are they considered exploited?

Games appearing in massive free key giveaways are removed from the giveaway creation menu and giveaways for them cannot be made in the first place. Hence, there's no need for a list.

Some things (be it game or DLC) slip through the crack though. Best example is one I just submitted a support ticket for: Saints Row IV Thank You DLC. It is free. But you can go into the giveaway menu and create a giveaway for it, and SG has it valued at $75...which is the SR Franchise pack. Only reason I know it slipped through is because someone created a giveaway for it, I told them it was free (even providing links to GamersGate, Amazon, Gamefly, etc...) then reported the giveaway. At least one other person reported it, before he closed that one and recreated it as a private giveaway in a group. I then just reported the guy, and submitted a ticket about the DLC itself, so hopefully whatever actions need to be taken, can be.

I think what OP is saying, that maybe they might want to create a themed giveaway or something like that at some point, and instead of scrolling through a drop menu to see what games are allowed, just click the "banned" list and have an actual list. IDK (shrug) that's what it read to me as.

But yeah, some things do slip through.

Well, people do buy games specifically to give away. Theoretically a list of games that they will not be allowed to give away would help there people in their purchasing decisions.

True enough, but if they're going to consult a list, it's probably just as easy to check the giveaway menu. This would also be more comprehensive and catch other issues, such as a game or bundle not having been added yet or not appearing for various other reasons.

This list includes bundled as well as some exploited games (word search exploit).

Maybe it isn't up-to-date but still useful.

If I am honest, it needs to be a whole list A-Z of titles, not an A-Z of where they were obtained. It would make that list a lot simpler and easier to follow.

Then there would be constant questions about where they came from. If you need to know about a single title, just ctrl+f. The list has a lot more useful information this way.

Well theoretically a A-Z list like
Tropico 3 - Steam Special Edition (Jul 24, 2013) [Bundle Stars - Masters of Strategy]
...
Would make sense.

Yes, but you wouldn't be able to check at a glance what was in a given bundle/whatever. The idea behind it is hierarchical wherein the bundles/promotions/whatnot are given precedence as the supersets of the constituent games. There may be reasons to have information about what bundles a specific game has been in, but this is generally less useful and would be far more laborious to update for us. Also, Enhanced Steam pretty much has that covered.
