here's what you do - works EVERY time...
take your axe and chop at least 2 sections out of your floor (assuming it's wood) then take an iron pickaxe and dig straight down about 120 meters (be sure and take some torches) then cut left and go straight for another 300 feet minimum - you should find some copper or iron ore by this time if not go back up and start a new hole somewhere else
then plant an acorn after digging out a big enough cavern for it to grow and... oh, shit wait - damn I gotta leave the Terraria alone - sorry... never mind
