Best dystopian/totalitarian themed game?
I played a few hours of This War of Mine and got too depressed to continue. I know a lot of people love it, and I hope to try it again in the future (I still have it installed, but I'm still avoiding it).
This looks like a nice event so good luck to those who qualify!

I love and hate that feeling from games. There were times when I felt under the weather, threatened and panicked and I had no idea why. Then I realized that I was thinking about continuing a game of mine, and I got stressed because of the protagonist's fears and problems. At least it's a good sign for the game really making someone to care.

I played way too much of This War of Mine, 80+ hours. recently bought "The Little Ones" DLC, and need to start over again; it just really breaks my heart every time. I also started to play Papers Please, but while it's a good game, somehow I can't find the time to play it proper. Not tried Orwell yet, but I want to.
This is the first time I've heard of Beholder, but it looks interesting

Enjoyed Papers, Please (100%) and This War of Mine (100% before last dlc, which is way worse than base game as far as i can see reading revievs), already have Beholder, but not sure i want to play it anytime soon :p Only missing Orwell and really want to play this one.

Have you played This War of Mine, Papers, Please or Orwell?
Damn, he left out Beholder, while it would fit so much into the concept
Good thing that the game gets some recognition after it's error, revoking then re-sending. It's way better than most random-free games from IG, has a concept, ideology, look at the world - really, thanks for giving it away and promoting a little, so it won't just be another past-free game :)

I played 13 hours of This War of mine, 8/31 achievements though :/
idk if dishonored and bioshock infinite counts as dystopian/totalitarian, but they were also some of the best

This War of Mine is one of the best story-based games I've ever played. All of your actions directly affect the plot. It's crushing and hurts your heart at several points, but you never know when hope will pay off. Maybe strangers will show up with canned goods, or the mother of those kids you helped will stop by to thank you. The scavenging is directly tied to keeping your housemates happy and healthy. It's dire, and you can get stuck in moral murk easily, but that's part of the appeal.

I played "This War of Mine" and "Papers, please" .
I stopped playing "Papers, please" because it got me depressed.
And I stopped playing "This War of Mine" because it bored me. Never made it pass day 25 because it bored me by that time.. 3 times so far and I dunno will I touch it again.

These games make me think I am bad person.
In Papers, Please I ditched my family to escape the country alone, leaving them to die.
In Beholder I denounced people to make it easier for me.
In This War of Mine I murdered and robbed everyone I could to survive.
I'm glad they didn't include a cannibalism feature because I'd do it.
Not played Orwell yet.

I haven't played this war of mine for long enough to count and haven't played the other two at all but I do enjoy the beholder since I played the beta (still have email as proof). I would love to get the whole game to play the finished product.

I have a little more than 3 hours on Papers, Please, so I guess I'm out. A great game, I still need to get back to it someday (I'm developing a game myself so I'm not playing anything other than a little CS:GO ATM to get some mindless distraction). Anyways, thx for sharing.
maybe you should include Please Don't Touch Anything to the poll, a great game as well

74 hours in This War of Mine. Great game beat all the scenarios.
Look up that game called "Sheltered". That's pretty good as well.

Played a lot of War of Mine and Papers, Please over at GOG and they're definitely both good games, wouldn't want to choose between them since they are also very different gameplay-wise. Had my eyes on Orwell for a while now, you kinda confirmed it being a good game by drawing the comparison to the other two ;).
Well, just wanted to thank you for making me aware of Beholder, haven't seen it before ;>.
Just to be clear - don't wanna apply for your group, just take it as a bump :>.

D'oh I finished This War of Mine in 9 h and Paper Please in 6 h, I guess I cant participate? Anywho, Beholder looks interesting, so I will keep my eye on this project. I must add I didn't heard anything about this Orwell game. is it as good as TWoM and PP?

Played TWoM for about 30 hours. I love it even though i got a bit depressed after it. Once i had 100% chievos, but then they added more and i still don't own the dlc :( Also Beholder is on my wishlist for a long time already, i guess i finally need to buy win it :D
