I'm going to copy-paste my reply from another SG thread:
I can't answer your question, but I'll do my usual plug for the wonderful XInput DS3 Wrapper.
You don't need to run a setup that may or may not install malware.
You don't need to run the program every time you want to use your controller.
You don't have to worry about compatibility, because your computer will read the DS3 inputs as XBox 360 controller inputs.
It's better than motioninjoy and BetterDS3.

It would be great if you knew a solution to this. I've tried your method in the past, but had settled on Better DS3 because it has a dedicated disconnect button. When I had used your method, if I was to unplug the controller from my PC after I was done playing, it would automatically turn my ps3 on. Do you know of a workaround so that by using your method, there somehow might be a way to automatically disconnect itself when I unplug it and not have my ps3/controller turn itself on?

The way I got around this kind of makes me scared to try it again, but here it is.
I installed the DS3 normally with the SCP drivers.
I used the Sisaxis Pair Tool to pair my controller to my PC (I used my PC's MAC address). At this point, the driver stopped working. My computer wouldn't recognize the inputs. I resynced the PS3 controller with my PS3, but even after doing this my the wrapper wouldn't recognize it.
I then force-reinstalled the drivers on the PS3 controller (even though I was on Windows 7), and it ended up working. Funnily enough, I can now use the controller on my PC without using a USB cable or Bluetooth dongle.
Anyways, my guess is that using the Sisaxis Pair Tool overwrites drivers for the DS3 and that force-reinstalling the drivers overwrote those. I'm hesitant to do it again, though, because I got kind of scared I screwed up the controller permanently.

Hm, well my issue had an easy fix. I didn't know there was a built in function where all you have to do is hold L1+R1 + PS button for 2 seconds and it disconnects the controller. Now I really have no reason to not use SCP. Works flawlessly.

I am trying to play spelunky on my computer with a PS3 controller but nothing is happening. I believe I have all the drivers, but the controller won't respond. In the past, I've used Motioninjoy.com and it's been fine. When I go to the website, it doesn't load. Also, the application itself won't even load. Any suggestions? Thanks
