What's Better ?
AMD in business ethics, low to medium price range price/performance ratio and the push of using open-source solutions so the entire industry can move forward. Also, FluidMotion video. I honestly believe I won't be able to watch now anything without it.
NVidia in pure raw power on high-end cards, albeit usually by bribing engine developers to include their ethically questionable proprietary solutions.

Or rather: greedy company who bribes developers to use their broken proprietary technologies (GameWorks and PhysX) that works fine only on their cards, charges extra for their cards based on that, and use their drivers to degrade performance on their older cards to sell the newer ones at a premium...
... or AMD?

Does it really matter? I suppose NVIDIA for gaming and AMD for winter.

Through my own experience I can state that Nvidia is better, yeah it's more expensive than AMD but a Nvidia card has a lot longer live time expectancy where a lot of my friends have AMD and need to replace it every 1-2 years because it just brakes I've had my Nvidia card for what 8 years and it is still working today :)

For me it seems that this situation is similar to the silicon lottery. ~6-7 years ago I had 3x nVidia cards in a row, all cards were returned due to defects. So I decided to go with AMD side - HD5850, after 6 years it still works perfectly.
I got almost all parts for my new PC (except GPU), so currently it runs "stock" Intel graphics. However in 1-2 weeks I`ll plan to install RX 480 AiB version (Nitro or Red Devil). It will last till AMD Vega (HBM2) series is out.
As for the old HD5850, my parents use that machine now and I expect it will last for a few years at least.
