I ask you guys for a lot, don't I?

Welp, I need decent dubstep. I am obsessed with finding new and decent music.

PLEASE no brostep, like Skrillex or whatever else there even is.

My favorite (and only one I know well, tbh) dubstep artist is Savant. Sledgehammer is one of my favorite songs by him.

I love either the really hardcore stuff (Sledgehammer is a good example), or the somewhat calm songs with a good beat + great vocals. (Ride Like The Wind and Hungry Eyes, love those songs)

I'll take any suggestion if it's free or accessible (iykwim) to me. I'd suggest giving me a sample/description instead of just a download.

Correct definition:

No. This is Skrillex. :p

No, Brostep is dubstep from America (or rather, the majority of dubstep from America).
It's characterised by one constantly repeated sample and constant wub-wubs. Skrillex and Mt.Eden are perfect examples of this shit.

But Mt.Eden is from New Zealand... ._.

I would've given a link where you can buy them, if I had one. Only place I've heard of these being sold, are at conventions or if high enough demand (groupees) then straight from the publisher, physical copies only. Pretty rare stuff.

That song's really boring, imho.

Just drum beats and repetitive audio clips.

I don't understand how songs like that and Savant's stuff are in the same genre. I find all this chillout stuff that I find really boring labelled under dubstep.

Both are too boring for me :/. They aren't "emotionally immersive" enough. I'd like to listen to them when i'm doing other stuff because they don't distract me, but they would be too flat when i'm exclusively listening to music

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

... really? Too boring? What isn't boring to you? I find that to be quite literally the most hardcore (AND GOOD) stuff I have heard.

EDIT: I'm hoping you waited until the drop on Sledgehammer, and listened to all of P EMM ESS on ACROBATICS.

Beeing hardcore has nothing to do with beeing boring or not for me (though it can help).
With "boring" i mean that they don't provoke any emotion. They don't make me think or feel in a special way.
As an example, this song makes me feel incredibly powerful (although i'm not really into Hardstyle because it's mostly too repetitive and simple). This is another example

If you have a good subwoofer you will like Another World by Structured Noises.

Here are some of my favorites: Eastern Jam (also this remix seems to melt your brain if you have a good sound equipment :), Rude Boy, Fire Hive (also a nice remix), The Unforgiven, also this one is fun.

This one is not dubstep but it makes my subwoofer happy. Also, who doesn't like Seven Nation Army?

Yeah, most people have a really botched view of dubstep/trance/hardcore electronic in general due to all of the popular artists out there that really fuck up the genre.

I try and avoid the absolute shit, which is all the popular stuff, which means I'm really into a lot of good music that not many people on SG and other forum sites have heard of. It's quite sad, but if it got popular it would just go downhill immediately.

Sorry for the rant. You can have whatever opinions you want.
