A giveaway! Am I interested? No... Do I hide it?
I'm mostly hiding the various packs & DLCs that I own, but which the Steam APIs refuse to confirm I own.
Well, that, and the worst dregs that come crawling out of Greenlight. (Meaning: anything by Digital Homicide, LordKres and possibly soon BMC Studios)

Behold!
Having his stuff disappear from Greenlight (dunno if he removed his more blatant asset flips himself, or if he had them removed for him) hasn't stopped him so far. But why would it, when getting your games removed from the Store because of false advertising doesn't either ?
And yeah. BMC studios. Let's just say DigiHom will actually have to put in effort to become the worst of the worst again...

Then I saw this small eye icon near every giveaway. "Oh! I can hide it! Thus, I shall never see it again." Since then I have hidden 2053 games. I only have three pages of giveaways to view

2 pages, 5470 are hidden

That's a lot. When you think of it, this number sort of shows how many different titles people are giving away. Steam has how many? Around 8300 games in the store currently, many games already removed from store and still being given away, not to mention new titles coming up.
Amazing community! Gifting nearly 2/3 of the Steam store.

Yes, but I only hide few games at a time because it just annoys me that after hiding a giveaway page reloads and puts you on top of the page again

I still havent found time to investigate addons and scripts, can you recomment one?

I have 151 as of now, will probably add up as I go along though. I only hide those I am sure I'll never play. If I'm unsure I won't hide it but I never enter their GAs either, idk why. XD

Yep, sometimes it is indeed hard to be sure. I already have around 450 games on Steam, 238 on www.gog.com and some elsewhere. I think this is a big backlog, with nearly not enough time to play through all the games. So now I enter only those I know I'd find time to play soon because of honest interest.

No idea how to see how many games I have blocked, but I'm sure it is thousands.
I use filters and settings so I only see GA for Whitelist, Groups and Wishlist.

Number 4 shows how many games are currently filtered

Thanks for this! Will be a lot less tempted to enter giveaways I'm not interested in now. Never noticed it before

I felt the same way at first. Thought to myself that if I am really to enjoy a game, I sure will add it to wishlist. But then in a few days just had time to do "hiding" and I liked it. It's a good thing that Steamgifts give all these option to personalize one's lists.

433 additional games are currently being filtered.
Quite a small list compared to many, but I don't really use it too often since gets tiresome waiting for the page to reload every time. If a particular bundle shows up that none of the games interest me, wherein that bundle then ends up showing for half the page, then I'll often go through then. Checking each game to see what the tags are and whether of any interest, then hide.
Majority are greenlight stuff, but also quite a few "broken", mostly negative, or even, platformers. lol. I do play platformers, but they're really not to my interest >.< I also hide certain DLC, packages, etc, that already own. Or in some cases, would block the "first episode" of certain games (e.g Life is Strange, before I brought the complete pack when it was on sale.) really don't care for that tactic either... Yeah, its kinda a cheap demo, but when they bundle just that first episode, if you like it, you end up wanting the others. If brought it, fair enough, but more often then not if bundled, want something else. Besides that, Demo's are usually free.
Other than that, certain games just get blacklisted by their name alone. Still want to know who thought stuff like Shower with your dad, and what's under your blanket were good ideas... in my opinion.

I started hiding only DLCs I already owned and such. Then I added games I'm not ever gonna even try, like multiplayer-only titles. Then I added games with very bad ratings to it. Then I started to hide games I'm not interested in. Recently I started hiding games that I would not start playing soon after winning them. Having more than one page of giveaways usually means a new bundle came and it's time to hidey-hide.
Where will this madness end? Will I hide everything? Tune in next time to find out.

I had no idea this was a thing you could do until right now......you've created a monster

"7,266 additional games are currently being filtered." Less than one page is enough. Keeping it clean and simple.

I currently have 2,798 hidden and more are added every day. since steamgifts v2, just over a year ago, i have cleared my 'hide additional games' list and start hiding from scratch. lets me re-evaluate what games i want to enter or not. spend a day hiding while i watch tv and after a few weeks i have to hide a few every day. I recently did this a month ago and i have found a bunch of games i hid that i want to enter now.

Some time ago I felt really overwhelmed by all the giveaways, especially when cheap bundles come up. There would be about 3 pages or so of giveaways, ending in under an hour. So first I made it a habit of only entering for those games that are in my wishlist. There weren't that many. And some un'wishlisted games are still interesting.
Then I saw this small eye icon near every giveaway. "Oh! I can hide it! Thus, I shall never see it again." Since then I have hidden 2053 games. I only have three pages of giveaways to view and practically all that are left, are the ones I am interested in. Clean, nice and so on.
Anyone else does the same?
