"Featuring faithful reproductions of the series’ origins with the original six Mega Man games, the Legacy Collection will remind long-time fans and introduce newcomers to what made Mega Man such a popular and iconic character.

"Challenge Mode" remixes gameplay segments from all six games, with plenty of scaling difficulty objectives for experienced players to conquer, yet serving as a good starting point for new players.

Museum Mode contains a comprehensive collection of history and high-res art – including promo art that may be new to even the most devout fans!

MMLC will feature all six games and more for $14.99 this summer as a digital download on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, and this winter on Nintendo 3DS."

Sadly, it only includes I-VI, but I hope they port the other ones in the future (specially X and the fighting one)

But they charging an arm and a leg for the first 6. No Megaman and Bass, no Megaman Battlers, no Megaman X, none of the ones everyone loves when they stopped being 8 bit and started being fun. Also Megaman Collection came out on xbox and ps2 with all 10 games not just 6 so kinda of feel ripped off lol.

Probably because 1 - 6 are nothing but NES games.

Why can't they release 9 and 10? Those are basically NES games, and they came out on every console. :(

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Because they aren't NES games. They would require work. Especially for the 3DS release. They can't just put them through a NES emulator with the rest.

Permalink

They could still put 7 and MM&Bass in emulator.

Yeah. It's not like Capcom isn't the king of re-releases or anything.

Haha its funny since all they do is re-release old games. Next ones to be re-released Devil May Cry 4 since the most recent Devil May cry already rereleased and Dragons Dogma being rereleased on next gen consoles too.

Actually... I'm pretty sure they're not emulated.

Taken from their own website "Speaking of Digital Eclipse, the team is bringing these 8-bit classics over via their new Eclipse Engine, which rebuilds the original games from their source elements."

That could also mean they're not as good as the originals.

Could very well be, I have hope though, how badly can you mess up some HD versions of some NES games though? Maybe input delay? That's all I can think of.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah that's the most problematic thing on conversions I think, but you know, it could be anything like different amount of shots from a specific weapon needed to kill a certain enemy (which could change some strategies), or different enemy paths, or something else that some hardcore players WILL find out (I'm sure lol).
I just hope they also includes the original soundtracks because they still sound good even with NES quality :)
I love the NES series anyway, so I have hope too, I just seen too many failed conversions to not have at least some doubts.

Am I the only one who never played a Megaman game before ? Am I missing a lot or is this the usual nostalgia related unnecessary hype ?

Classic Megaman games are really good and hard. If you like platformer games you should check them out. There's a bit of nostalgia hype too, as always.

I only like the X series, the regular ones are unnecessarily punishing and hard. Also the controls are not as tight.

I was really bad at I and IV when I was young, but recently I played and beat I-IX and it wasn't THAT hard. X+ are super easy, but X, X2 and X3 were the best in the X series imo

I finally conquered that game at the age of 25 (last year)! I played it when I was 5-8 years old but never got past the first Sigma level, I also didn't know english so I pretty much mashed the buttons, lol. I don't think I followed a good maverick order either :]

I'm actually really excited for this. I remember getting the Mega Man collection for the Gamecube, but it was basically unplayable because the Jump and Fire were on the wrong buttons and there was no way to change it.

I have the Classic collection on Gamecube, along with 9 and 10 on PS3. Oh, and Virtual Console of all 6 of the NES games on 3DS (along with the Gameboy games). I'll skip this. Let me know when they give us the X Collection. Can't find anyone willing to sell me that one at a price I'll accept.

Did you ever play The Wily Wars? That was my first time with the series, some 16 bit versions of the first three games, complete with battery saves and a mode to play through a new Wily Tower with weapons from all three games.

Sadly looks like Capcom just doing it because of the hype for Mighty No 9 but most gamers I know and myself only TRUELY LOVED 9, 10, Mega Man & Bass, and the X series and seems like sales will be poor for it so they won't rerelease fan favorites :(. But still buying the collection to support the series as well and just hope they release the newer ones again.

I can't believe it. This is truly the Golden Age of PC gaming. And that is all because of Steam. Without the digital distribution those PC releases would never happen. I pity people hating on Steam cause they just can't see and understand that.

I don't buy it, Capcom plays dirty and I'm 99% sure that this collection will be buggy or unplayable. I simply don't trust them and their strategy of making remakes (I'm looking at you DMC4 SE) will backfire someday.

In terms of not releasing the original PSOne versions onto the PlayStation Network: Copyright issues (product placement in game.)
Otherwise, it's just Capcom being sorta lazy about it.
